El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!  Hope everyone is doing well.  Im gettng married at EDR exactly 2 months from today!  Cant belive its just around the corner!  I have some quick questions for the pros on here ;)

We are using Sarani photography but need to decide between James and Lunic.  Thoughts?

Also we plan to bring our on floating lights for the pool next to Tucanes, some decorations to hang on the chairs closest to the aisle for the ceremony and maybe a few other minor things.  Is there a fee for us to set it up ourselves?  The cost to use the Lomas items is just way more than we want to pay.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

@@jhare6714 - major CONGRATS!! That's so exciting your wedding day is fast approaching!  I don't much about Sarani so I'm going to leave that feedback to the true experts on this site.  As for a set up fee, I don't believe Karisma/Lomas will allow you to do the set up yourself, but they do charge a fee (much cheaper than using their stuff) of something like "up to $5/person" with a cap of $250 to set your things up for you.

I'm sure pros like @@AllieH will chime in with more/better info.

@@jhare6714 congrats!! We leave in 16 days.. Eeeeek! It all happened so fast!

As far as the set-up fee.. Unfortunately it varies per couple and per wedding coordinator. This is NOT consistent. My best advice is to stand firm and make sure they don't try to extend your budget. We were charged $700... Yep! $700.

Good luck!

We've noticed that the plan ahead WC have much higher charges than what the onsite WC's will charge. For small things. it's typically no more than $5 pp, or $250 total.

The higher charges rack up when you have things to hang from the ceiling or gazebo, or elaborate set ups.

I would wait and discuss your set up when you have your meeting with the onsite WC. Take some cash, but a limited amount (maybe $200 or $250) and use that as your negotiating point.

It's been ages since I've been on here...everything looks so new and different.  But I wanted to share a deal I found.  Tanga has the Jambox by Jawbone on sale for only $53.  My husband bought it for $200.  It's a portable blutooth speak, small light and loud.  really loud, when my husband puts it on to listen to his audiobook while in the bathroom you can hear it from outside the house.   It'd be good if someone is doing a small event and didn't want to pay for the sound system that Lomas offers.  We used it a few times while at EDR, can't believe it was almost a year ago now.   Still it's a great deal and I wanted to pass it on.

Hi Ladies!

Just a little over a month until our big day!! @@AllieH I love your paper lanterns hung around, I know you said you had around 40….how much were you charged? Also, what kind of lights did you use for them? HOw did you describe you wanted them up? I was thinking clusters of three?

I was also thinking of using candle bags to put around the perimeter of the pool/walkway but Marisol said the floating candles look better…I've only seen a few pictures with either…any opinions ladies? I'm going for more soft light ambiance.

Thanks!!!!

They charge me $150 or $200 for the entire set up - paper lanterns, table runners, our menus, the shells for the centerpieces, fans & tissues on the ceremony chairs and chair sashes. I don't remember the exact amount now! We paid in cash when we got onsite.

I did the "DIY throwies" - little LED lights with hearing aid batteries. here's a link to the instructions: http://www.instructables.com/id/LED-Throwies/

They used fishing wire to hang the lights inside the lanterns.

I didn't give them any instructions for hanging them - at that point it didn't matter to me really. But I do like the idea of clusters! Just explain that in your meeting with the onsite WC.

I think the floating candles OR the bags w/ candles (or LED candles) would look great around the pool & walkways. I remember the pool being really dark, so something to light either the edges, or floating on top would be nice. I don't think they had lights on in the pool at night.

Your day is coming up so quickly!!!!! YAY!
