El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thank you! I'm trying to prep myself and our wedding party for the heat... Hopefully everyone will just suck it up!! Great idea with renaming the songs. I'm def. going to do that :)

Do you happen to have any pics of the wooden isle runner? We were going to have it for our ceremony because it looks so nice in the pictures, but after hearing your review, I'm wondering if I should just walk down in the sand and save the $150...? What do you think? Did it add to the decor of your ceremony, or was it nothing special? Thanks!

It was 88 degrees the day of our wedding with a "feels like" 94 I believe. The guys were all in light grey, light fabric suits and were carrying around hand towels to wipe themselves down for pics! I think they were a little miserable, but I could tell that my husband was trying not to complain since he knew they all looked great and that I wanted them to wear their jackets love.gif I was so sweaty that my dress actually clung to my leg when I walked down the isle, causing my to trip a bit. Our wedding was at 5 and it was significantly cooler at 6 or 6:30.

I too was nervous about the music during the ceremony, but it was perfect! I made a "Ceremony" Playlist and renamed the songs for when I wanted them played (i.e. wedding party processional, bride's music, and recessional).

Here are some more pics of Toucanes (sorry most are sorta dark and I dont have that many, I will try to look for more):

I was wearing wedges for some height and it was terrible walking in them in the sand! I was relieved to get to the portion of the wooden runner. It isn't very long at all so you will have to wade through the sand to get to it though. It is definitely not even as close to as long as in the picture they sent us. We made sure that they made the runner go all the way up to the alter so my fiance and I could stand on it during the ceremony, which I thought in itself was worth the $150, after struggling through the sand. The runner doesnt look exactly like it does in pics and having seen both, I prefer the ones in the pictures they initially sent versus the one they had set up at our ceremony. I do think that it added to the overall decor as well because it gave the chairs more placement and seemed like it completed the set up.

Picture they sent (slats running horizontal in one long runner):

Picture of the actual runner (sections of about 3 feet placed next to each other to create a walk way):

Perfect. Thanks for the info. and pictures :) Another question - how hot was it when you had your rehearsal dinner at Tucanes? Was there a breeze? If you had to dance in that area, would you have been dying of the heat? Now I'm wondering if we should have chosen the Salon Dorado for our reception so we could have AC... Do you have any other pics of your reception area you can share (you were at Salon Dorado, right?)?

mrendic, our wedding date is on June 9th as well.  Like you, I'm starting to wonder how many weddings do they have going on that same day.  We are at the Fuentes location for the wedding and our reception is at the White Beach Gazebo.  I wish you well on your day and that all of your planning comes together perfectly!

No problem!

It was pretty warm at Toucanes, but there was still a breeze. My fiance told me he was glad that we were having our reception indoors during the rehearsal dinner, but I have to say, the Salon Dorado seemed even warmer because it's a large space to keep cool and the waiters and guests are constantly going in and out of the doors so the minimal a/c in Salon Dorado escaped quit quickly angry.gif

Knowing that now, I would have opted for an outdoor wedding since it felt just as warm and not nearly as pretty as Toucanes. When is your wedding?

I've got loads of questions for you.  So glad that you discussed the temperature, and what it actually feels like.  I was trying to figure out what type of dress to go shopping for, and I'm getting married in a year from tomorrow, so almost the same time.  I was thinking just dress shirts and a vest for the guys.  Do you think that would be better?  Could you ask your husband if he would have been more comfortable in that?  I did find that Jos A Bank has suits and dress shirts that are wicking and we were thinking about that to help a bit.  What type of material was your dress?  It looks like satin maybe?  They talked me into doing the ceremony at 5, but now I'm thinking that we should postpone it to be a little later.  How long was your cocktail hour?  and When did your reception start?  Do you think there would be enough time to postpone the ceremony by an hour? So walking in the wedges was hard, would you recommend just wearing flats? Or, do you think the wooden runner was worth it?  How did your guests do waiting outside for the ceremony to start?  Did you do anything to help they stay cool? i.e. fans, umbrellas, water, sunglasses, etc?  About the hair, I was thinking of doing a Hairdo that was pulled back and then cascaded down one side.  Do you think the wind would still make this hair style annoying, or do you think it'd be too hot for that?  By the way, I think your hair was a gorgeous shade of blonde.  Glad to see they did such a good job fixing it for you.  Did you do a veil?  I was debating on nixing it.  ... anyway... suppose that's enough questions for now.   Thanks!  and CONGRATS!!!

That makes me feel better. I expect it will be pretty hot, but I'm glad to hear there is a breeze and also that the air conditioned alternative isn't too much cooler... I freaked out a little because the AC just went out on my car this past weekend and I was driving home in 85 degree weather the other evening and I was SOOO HOT. I was just imagining that was how we were going to feel at the reception LOL. I'm sure it's going to be hot, but at least it sounds like it (hopefully) won't be so bad that it ruins our time... Our wedding is June 30 :)

thanks for all the great info!!!

How much did they end up charging you to set up your decorations for the ceremony & reception? Or were those things you rented from them? I got yet another ridiculous quote from Lomas today. I'm rather fed up with them.
