Gran Caribe Real 2011 Brides

Nadennec, can I have the cd's? lol. And who's your WC? Maybe she's just wary of last-minute changes in travel plans such as the weather or something. Or maybe meeting with the WC/priest had to be in the morning and usually when traveling people don't arrive until the afternoon?

Ego11 & Carmresu, I did my research as well. There's the restaurant "Lorenzillo's" across the street from GCR. I tried emailing them about how much it would be to hold a wedding rehearsal dinner there and they never got back to me. There's a lot of other restaurants as well. What's great about GCR is that it's close to the club scene and shopping malls so maybe you can explore your options there? My off-site WC told me wedding rehearsal dinner options would be the same options and menu as the reception, so I passed on that. As for me, when I went to my wedding site visit and met with an onsite WC, she actually suggested a "Cocktail"-type rather than a dinner on the beach with a mariachi trio. I think for cocktail hour it's like $10 per Real resort guest and $15 for non? Hope this helps!

For brides who used Funever for your wedding, how long did the formal/family pictures on the beach take? I'm trying to figure out if I should have those pictures taken before or after the ceremony. We're including a cocktail hour before the reception and I would want my bridal party (along with myself!) to enjoy the cocktail hour as well. Thanks!

Is anyone thinking of hiring an outside vendor and booking them a room at the GCR to save $ on the vendor fee? If so, here's a heads up:

"that is correct our policies changed and now we change for the vendors even if they are staying at the resort however because your wedding were booked before April 2011 if the photographer will be staying at the Gran Caribe it wont be any extra charge for him.

*According with the contract:

4. All services required by the couple for the wedding ceremony or reception will be supplied by Real Resorts. Outside Vendors are generally not allowed but we will charge A fee of $ 350 usd for each outside vendor exception.

*Now our vendor policy is the following one:

The Vendor Fee $350.00 usd. Per service…Any outside vendor is responsible for its own equipment, which must be registered at the security gate before gain access to the wedding events and she/he needs to follow the policies of the Hotel, and must wear the companyâ€s uniform to whom she/he represents. This is in order to protect the security of any of our Guests.

Real Resorts is not responsible for Products and/or Services hired to external vendors. This Vendor Fee is not refundable."

Hope this helps because I was completely oblivious to this until my WC, Katia informed me!

This is very true! my onsite WC told me about the new policy when i met with her, which obviously didnt apply to me.......she also told me that with the new policy even if you book them a room (which is now a minimum of 2 nights!!) you still HAVE To pay the vendor fee......They are basically making sure that noone gets around paying it!! I just paid my fees and didtn bother trying to book them a room......at the end of the day you just want to make sure your vendors are able to have easy access to the resort the day of the wedding.....nothing is more annoying than dealing wit the security there.....trust me! ......

Bride2B22 - So, you just paid the vendor fee of $350 and didn't book him a room at all? Were they going to make you pay the vendor fee even if you had booked the room?

ego11 - they are only making you book th eone night room, right?

O Does anyone know what the standard rate is for one night?

Nadennec- Yes, they are only making me do one night and they aren't charging a vendor fee since I booked before April 2011. When I searched the room charge for one night on December 16 on the GCR website it was $205 which is going to end up saving me about $100...not too much but I'm trying to cut corners where ever I can!

Bride2b22- Did any of your guests book directly through the GCR? If so, how much discount did they get when they used the wedding code?

Hi! No one booked with my wedding code. Not even me! Lol my WC would do price matching for us. So when people were ready to book she would provide me with the pricing for flight and hotel and I always found it cheaper on expedia so she would price match for me. We saved wayyyy more $$ doing it that way because it's always cheaper when u do flight and hotel together. Even if the hotel had given us a discount, then we would've had to purchase flight separate, and at the end of the day it would be more expensive to do it That way. Package deals are the way to go! I swear the hotel discount is small like 10%. How are your guests bOoking?
