Thanks wanda and kathy for your responses! These definitely help. I did get confirmation from my WC after asking her many questions that I can book a room for the photographers and I wouldn't have to pay for the outside vendor fee and the day pass. I think it's still hefty, but cheaper than the other option. Thanks again!

 

 

My WC is Elsa and I have it in email stating that you can avoid an outside vendor fee and guest pass if you book them a room. I booked mine a room at the Gran Caribe and its on sale right now so it cost 248 for both the photographer and their assistant.. hope that helps

Thanks for all the reviews. I haven't posted any replies but I follow this thread everytime there's a new post! My fiance and I are going for our site visit next weekend. I'll take as much picture as possible with my Canon PowerShot! Unfortunately it looks likes it'll be raining down there!  I chose February thinking it's one of the drier months to get married. Oh well. Anything's better than this snow/ice/rain mix we're getting in the NorthEast coast. Anyways, I've been emailing FunEver Photos regarding samples of their work and they've been responsive with my questions and requests. Also, PM me any questions you'd like me to address to the on-site wedding coordinator we're meeting with (Diana, whom I've heard is great! Is there a way I can request NOT to have Flora? She's been getting bad reviews from a couple of brides).

 

My one concern is the menu. Ana, my WC right now is telling me I can only choose ONE menu for all of my guests. Unfortunately with the Royal Catholic Wedding package, the main course has 2 entrees with shellfish and some of my family members have shellfish allergies. And the other entree, the beef, includes mushrooms and my Fiance's mom doesn't like mushrooms. Maybe if I get enough guests I'll opt for a buffet style? I'd really rather not. Oh well. We'll see. Happy planning bride to be's and congrats to the newlyweds!!! You ladies are awesome.

So ladies here is my issue.  I am staying at the Royal , but the reception is at the Villas Terrace at the Gran Caribe.  If I get a room for the photographers at the Caribe will they let them come take pictures of me getting ready at the Royal with out a day pass?  I would book a room at the Royal, but they are sold out.

Girls my coordinator is Elsa and she emailed me and said 1. You can have two entrees  if you specify who gets what at your reception i.e place cards.. the other thing is Elsa told me in an email that the photographer who is staying at the Gran Caribe can come to the royal (your room) 3 hours before the wedding... hope that helps

It's better to pay the vendor fee for the photographers cause they will let them move in and out from both resorts... My ladies were not allowed into the Royal the day of the wedding because they were staying at the gran caribe real.

We got married 1/21/2011 it started raining for 30 mins and we had to switch from the terrace to the suite at the royal yes next to the wash rooms... I have a pic where one of the groomsmen was drench in sweat lol...

I wouldn't be, it's the ocean - there's sharks everywhere! I know some guests have mentioned it to me.

Hi KernsWR,

 

Thank you so much for sharing with us your planning and giving us the opportunity to have our questions answered. I get married at Royal Oceanfront Gazebo, followed by the reception at Villas Terrace on May 28, 2011. I have several of concerns since we doing an event in another country and don't have a face to face meetings until we get there.  The first concern is the  the real spacing of the places (it seems that on the website the put pictures of places that aren't actual the place. e.g.: my wedding is at the royal gazebo and at the website they only have a picture of the gazebo at the gran side). The decoration would be a worry on my side as well since I can't see what is a standard decoration look like. Do they have a order of things, a program for the ceremony and party? How can we make sure that the people staying at different resorts are really be able to get inside for the wedding? I don't mean to bombard you with questions, but the closer it gets and the more bad reviews I receive I get very nervous. I requested my WC to have Diana or not have Flora at the day of my wedding. She said she can't guarantee but would pass the request to the manager onsite. What can we do if they don't honor or give the things we wanted? Are we literally in their hands? I will PM you as well. Can't wait to see your pictures

I think I might have seen you walk through the lobby on your wedding day  

  I know what you mean about the sweat, lol we had the same problem! You know the hotel made me feel that the AC broke THAT day (we got married on the 17th) and they said they couldn't fix it at such short notice but it sounds like it was never fixed and who knows how long it's been broken for. 

 

I have to say you were lucky that they let you have your wedding on the terrace to begin with. I wasn't given that option. I was asked while getting my hair done whether I wanted the terrace or the ballroom. Flora said if it rains or sprinkles at all, my wedding gets cancelled! They would not move our wedding as set up is time consuming (which I understand). The shitty thing is it only rained for a few minutes ( I didn't even notice the rain because it happened right when we were being introduced at the reception).
