Need Advise for Vegas Elopement

My FI and I are going to be eloping in Vegas next year but are still trying to figure out the details. Neither of us have been to Vegas so we are trying to find a nice hotel for a decent price.

 

Our entire budget for our elopement is $4,000. I really like the look of Mandalay Bay but would love to hear some reviews from people who have stayed there if it is worth the money. I would love to book a beautiful hotel but get my moneys worth.

 

Plus what is the best time to travel and still get to enjoy warm weather? We're from Ohio so we would love to travel in the fall but if its too cold to go swimming we are willing to change plans.

 

Also we are interested in some reviews of the better restaurants in town any suggestions?

Sorry I don't have specific advice, but if you check Hotels and Vacation Reviews - TripAdvisor, enter Las Vegas in the seach box and hit the restaurant links - it will tell you the top rated restaurants in Vegas. Plus, you can also do this for hotels and get genuine reviews from normal people.

I love Vegas in September! All the pools are still open and it's still nice and warm out. As far as a hotel goes I myself don't like Mandalay, but only because it's at the end of the strip. I like to stay in the middle where there tons of action.

Hi there! I actually live in Vegas..so have been pretty much everywhere.

 

Personally, when I stay on the strip I like MGM Signature. They are three towers that are directly behind MGM...but everything is connected via a indoor tunnel. You can walk underneath to Mandalay Bay too. All of the rooms are suites and you can get junior suites for around 150/night. They have full kitchens and balconies too..kinda like a timeshare...but full luxury. I think this is the most "bang for your buck".

 

Vdara and Aria are nice too...but just classy hotel rooms.

 

 

There are plenty of great restaurants. Some of my favorite are Stack steak house, Nine steak house, and Morels.

Thank you so much for the feedback! LA923 I check out Trip Advisor and from the reviews there I no longer think Mandalay Bay is a contender. I didn't realize how far away it was from everything.

 

IMAFOXX thanks on the September tip! I would love to get some R&R by the pool while we are there, I'm sure my FI is going to want to gamble some that would be perfect!

 

Telly032 since you live in vegas have you or any one else heard anything about timeshare promotions? A girl at work used one for free boarding on her honeymoon and because she was so young they didn't make her sit through a presentation. Has anyone tried something like this?

 

I also just got an email for a promotion at the Mirage for $79 a night in November. Has anyone stayed here? Is it pretty close to the action?

We're planning to stay at Mirage or Treasure Island never stayed there but have heard good things about them and they're in the heart of the strip. Can't help with restaurants never sat down to eat anywhere was always on the go.

Mandalay is at the end of the strip, but we never found it hard to get anywhere from there. I love that hotel, and the 2 spas there are great. I found that the restaurants there were yummy and most importantly, it was so easy to navigate through the hotel some of the other hotels I found I got lost in, but maybe that is just me and my bad sense of direction

Mandalay Bay is huge and next to the Luxor. It definitely has a beautiful setting for wedding photos. Also there is nightly live entertainment throughout the casino. The pool is GORGEOUS and there are some cool bars, lounges, and clubs there. It also connects to the Luxor in the building. One cool place to check out is the "Ice Lounge". I know weddings are held there all the time. They have an ice chapel. Very unique and different. The of course they had the Red Hot Blue restaurant and a few very nice other ones.

A $4000 budget for elopement is plenty.. if you are looking more center-strip then consider Planet Hollywood or (less expensive) Imperial Palace. Both are sufficient and not horribly expensive.

 

A word of advice - unless you want to drop half your budget on photography, then do NOT use ANY of the chapels or casino chapels. Most casino chapels you'll pay $1000+ just for the disc of images. Expecially stay away from any chapel that uses Cashman, as they are difficult to work with, hard-sell, and way overpriced.

 

Have you considered an off-strip ceremony -maybe up on Mt. Charleston or at a nice local park? Many vendors can package officiate, transportation, photography, etc. for a reasonable price -probably less than just the purchase of your photos.

 

We're doing a wedding for a couple in October at the top of Mt. Charleston, the location overlooks the back-side of the mountain with greenery for a mile or so, then beautiful reddish desert and mountains as far as the eye can see. At sunset, the mountains in the background GLOW with firey red.
