November 2010 Brides - Riviera Maya

WOOO HOOO YOU GOT SO MUCH DONE! that has to be a huge relief.

I have my 1st fitting next Tuesday as well. They just need the shows in order to adjust the length correctly. Since your right on the beach I would personally do bare feet :) have you ever seen foot jewlery? I love them. Than put your shoes on so you can make sure the length is right bare foot or with the shoes.

Good luck take pics!

I finally sent out my invitations last week :) What a relief. So much work.

We also did our registry and figured out the GM attire.

All the big things are done.

But it's true, there are just SOOOO many little details, it's hard to keep your head around them all. But at least it's things that if it doesn't happen, it won't make or break the wedding.

I have my first dress fitting today! I am pretty excited to get an idea of what's going to happen to it. It's a corset so losing or gaining 5 pounds probably won't do anything with alterations. I'm just confused because you're supposed to wear the shoes you're going to wear for the wedding. And I'm going barefoot for the ceremony and I'll bring heels for the reception, but I feel like I'll just wear flip flops since who's gonna see my feet? And my FH is only a few inches taller than me, so heels will make us the same height.

What are girls thinking of doing? Heels or flip flops?

Oh my!  You gals are having dress fitting already??? I still need to lose a few...so far have lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks, and figured I could at least lose 12 more before my first fitting...I was going to give my seamstress 1 month to do the alterations...is this cutting it close?

Things I have done:

- invitations (well sort of...I just ordered them, now need to assemble and finish the diy parts)

- BM/GM gifts and attire

- wedding shoes

- booked hair/makeup with Fernando!

- booked mariachi for ceremony

- booked band for reception

Things I'm working on:

- favors- making custom shot glasses

- seating charts/escort cards

Things I need to do:

- write the ceremony and my vows!

- find our rings

- get after people to go buy their passports already

Time is going by so fast!

Anyone else started to get anxious/freaking out?  3 months!!!

I feel like there is so much to do when really I cant do much about it right now.  Need to order stuff for OOT bags, but still dont know how many people to expect.  Now with this whole Mexicana bankruptcy I have another thing to worry about :)

It will all work out, I know!

Is everyone pretty much finalizing everything for the ceremony when the date gets closer?? So weird that I dont really know how much this is going to end up costing us lol.

Happy planning!

i'm getting married on October 30th - and I can't believe it's almost here!!!!!

i'm checking things off the list everyday - ordered the welcome cards today that will be included with the OOT bags - now just have to order the bags once we have a final head count.

I'm going for my first dress fitting and hair trial on Saturday and can't wait!! I'm going to have my usual person in NYC do my hair and take step by step pics so we can show the salon at Secrets EXACTLY how to do it. I am also thinking of booking an appointment with the salon at the hotel when we arrive so I can get a test run done.

I still need to go for my make-up trial and my fiance' and I are going back to the jeweler to look for wedding rings and we also need to compile our list of songs for the DJ, order yamaka's, and get the place cards and seating chart done.

In the madness of it all - we are moving at the end of this month to a new apt and I am going to China for work for 2 weeks in September!

All the stress is def keeping me on my toes and super busy :)

I don't think you have to start your alterations yet. The only reason I started is because she's a busy lady and we get 3 different appointments (more if needed), so it will take me about 1.5 months. My dress has a corset back so if I lose a few pounds it won't make a difference. We are just hemming the length, adding bra pads, and adding a french bustle.

Also, it is weird not knowing how many guests will be attending your wedding and that completely changes the cost of the reception and OOT bags. I just guessed that we're gonna have 70-80 guests and if some people don't get a shot glass or pashmina, then so be it. It's not my fault they waited until 2 weeks beforehand to come to our wedding. :P Who knows if that will even happen.

I'm finally getting our budget back together as well, and OUCH! I was originally budgeting for about 40 guests, and that has doubled (!) and even though we're at an all-inclusive...oh well! Still another $6/per person for champagne toast and $55 for dinner. It starts adding thousands and thousands of more dollars really quickly. Is anyone else going over their initial budget? I don't know HOW anyone does it for under 5K. You have got some mad skills!

I used to live in Norwalk!! Long time ago and only for a year though... but still! Fancy seeing another bride from Norwalk here who is also getting married in the Mayan Riviera in Nov! lol

We are getting married at the GPR on Nov 26, 2010... I have so much to do still! We have about 21 people coming but there may be a few more. Bought my dress and should be getting it at the beginning of Oct. Still need to buy our rings, bridesmaids and groomsmen attire, finish OOT bags.... eeeek!

I haven't even booked a photographer yet, just can't decide! We want to bring a photog from our hometown but it's just not in the budget. I'm having a hard time picking one in Mexico without meeting them first.

I wish I could wear heels, at least for the ceremony but the gazebo is booked until 5pm on our wedding day and by then it'll start getting dark. So since I'm getting married on the beach, I'll be wearing flip flops for both the ceremony & reception.

Hello everyone,

I am wondering what everyone is doing with Mexicana Airlines and your guests that booked their flights with them?  It turns out we have about 100 people in our wedding and almost 25 of them are

booked through Mexicana Airlines. At first, they said they would honor their flights till the end of the year and now they said they are cancelling all flights and unless everyone calls to re-book and ask for their money back they won't TELL YOU that the flight is cancelled.

Does anyone have anymore information on this?

My dress doesn't come in until August 25th and it feels so far! I think you should be fine if you start getting alterations around the first two weeks in September...

Where did you book your mariachi? And how much were you able to get them for? We're looking for a 10 element piece for an hour.
