Welcome to the forum and congratulations! You're fortunate to be in Houston where it is so accesible to get places. We are getting married in Isla Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. We have a bunch of guests coming from the Houston area (my boyfriend's friends and family) and such a short flight for them and direct into Cancun airport.

 

I'm sure there are lots of other ideas on this forum for you guys though. Good luck with your search!

It's really good to find a TA that has some experience with destination weddings! They will be able to show you wedding sites, prices of extras and all the different options different resorts offer. Good luck with choosing!!

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum! I'm just about in the same boat as you! LOL! We recently decided to have a destination wedding and choosing a place can be so difficult since you can't just drive over and check it out. We did choose Jamaica now and may be honing in on Montego Bay since we also don't want us or our families to do a whole lot of extra traveling. Since you're in Texas, Mexico is close to you and I have seen lots of destination wedding sites with gorgeous resorts over there. you can totally do it.. 20K is a great budget for destination.. of course you can always go over hahah. That's up to you
