Any 2012 brides out there?

Sherma25, I'm getting married at the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana too!!!  My date is January 6, 2012!!  I've only read great things about thre resort even though I haven't been there!  I can't wait!!!!!!

I just got confirmation!!

 

We're getting married at the Paradisus Punta Cana on April 15, 2012!!! We will be staying there for a week with our guests and then moving over to the Paradisus Palma Real for our honeymoon. Our travel agent got us and our guests the most incredible rate. I couldn't be happier!

 

Now on to planning everything else!

UPDATE! We have switched travel agents as the other one wasn't working out. I just sent my $200 deposit to our new TA and locked in the most incredible rate--much lower than we had expected!! She is based in Toronto and as well and is AMAZING. Anytime I have a question, she emails me back right away.. even at 10pm! I HIGHLY recommend working with her. Hi ladies. I get excited all over again reading about you all booking your resorts! We booked ours in February which seemed such a long time away but time is going by so quickly! If anyone is still looking for travel agents, my TA is fantastic as well. She is in Cuba right now actually for her own DW at the same resort we're getting married at! She's on these forums under Kelly62. I can't recommend her enough!

 

Good luck with the planning! We just booked our photographer a couple weeks ago and now we're looking at music! I'm trying on wedding dresses in June and July once I've hopefully lost some more weight.

Sorry ladies, but I have to get this off of my chest.

 

Despite not being until October 2012, I wanted to at least have a location picked out. We thought we'd go with Dreams La Romana (as FH REALLY loves Dreams Resorts) but our travel agent has doubts that we'll be able to get there for the dates we want but she says that there is no way to know for sure until April 2012.

 

Am I unreasonable to not want to wait a year before knowing if that is the location of our wedding? Because all I keep hearing is that we are just too damn early.

 

Date, location. Seems basic enough. We simply want to give people enough time to save and plan. That was the whole point of getting engaged so early.

 

Just in case, I have been looking at other resorts. FH is set on Dreams, and I want a smaller resort, so our choices are limited by our own stubbornness. The date is special to us as it would be our 5th anniversary, so again, not something we'd want to change.

 

I know it's a petty thing, but the frustration at people telling me to wait is building. Since when did being decisive or firm mean you were unreasonable or a bridezilla? The whole point of DW is to relax and enjoy it, no? Alas, my own brain is trying to intercede.

 

Anyone else getting the "you're too early" shpeel? How are you dealing with it?

I'm sorry to hear this!!  It is really hard to wait....I only had to wait a month before booking, but that was long enough!  I'm surprised your travel agent can't at least give you an "idea" of the quote and maybe try to contact the resort and hold rooms so that you can start inviting people!?  Maybe check around on here for another TA?  I wish I would have found this site before choosing my TA!  She's soooo bad about replying back to my emails/phone calls.  Good luck!!!!
