What if it rains???

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Does anyone have any information about what the Riu resorts do in case of rain? Do you get a rain date? How about the beach receptions? It costs extra, so I would hope we'd get the extra money refunded if it had to move inside...

This is probably a question I should have thought about before booking everything...

Yeah, I emailed Chandlyn about what they do if it rains and she said they find an indoor location for it.

Marie, I can't believe it's coming up so fast for you!! I hope you have a fantastic day and I can't wait to read your review when you return. Good Luck!!!

Usually if it rains, Chandlyn will wait to see if it will pass. If it looks like its going to pass she will just push your ceremony time back.

If it happens to look like the rain is going to be steady, she will give you an option of having your ceremony inside, at Mammee Bay.

Also, try not to worry about the weather forecasts that you see online. When I was planning & as I got closer & closer to my arrival date, I looked at the forecasts & saw rain everyday. Needless to say I was a mess. When I finally got there, it did not rain ONCE! And when I went last year, it did rain on some days but the rain was very brief. So take those forecasts with a grain of salt.

MARIE! That's so cool - you're getting married the day after us! We're flying out of Toronto next Saturday - should be landed and drinking by noon! May 5 at 2:00 - you're welcome to spy if you need to. ;P

Ha ha ha ha we're pretty bad not asking about rain dates beforehand, but I'm not all that worried. Caribbean countries have 10-15 minutes of torrential downpours, then it clears up. I just wanted to know if anyone knew what they did if the ceremony was during the 10-15 minutes!

Whatever happens, happens. Obviously I hope for a sunny day for all brides, but isn't rain supposed to be good luck?

I agree...don't get too worried about the weather forecast. The four days before my wedding it rained at 2pm everyday like clockwork. On the day of my wedding, which was at 2pm, it was beautiful - not a storm cloud in the sky.

For my beach reception, it started to drizzle when we first started to eat. We just ignored it and it passed very quickly. There was not even any talk of what we would do. The team working the reception just kept going like it was nothing, and it was.
