Moon Palace Wedding Coordinator Questions

Just an FYI for anyone that would rather have the Cancun symbolic ceremony before getting legally married in your hometown...

I had noticed in in one place in the Palace Resorts Wedding materials I was given it said that for a Symbolic Ceremony it was the responsibility of the couple to get married in their hometown pre/post travel (even though in the paragraph before it says you need to bring your marriage certificate with you). I was a little uncomfortable with getting married beforehand because I kind of felt like I was deceiving my guests in Cancun since I would already be married (especially since my parents know we are planning a symbolic ceremony, but we hadn't told FI's parents). So I asked my WC if we could get married in our hometown after the Cancun wedding, & she said that was fine.

I would definitely clear it with your WC, but since I've cleared it with my WC, I'm going to get married legally once we get back home.[/QUO

I'm having a Catholic wedding and I was confused because I had gotten two different responses. My contract stated that in Mexico you need to be legally married before you have a Catholic wedding. One WC told me that I did and another told me that I didn't. Today I called and was told that I had to email the preist at moon palace and get special permission from him. Just to be safe thats what im going to do.

Does MP do civil (legal) ceremonies on Sundays? I thought I read that they did not, but on the websites availabilities calendar it show that Sundays are available. We are booked for May 20th (Friday) and just realized that that is the first birthday of the best man's daughter. We normally make a big deal of the kids' birthdays so if we can move to the Sunday before that would take some stress away. I emailed my MC but no answer yet, and we need to no ASAP, as my STDs are ready to go to print. HELP!!!

No they do not do civil ceremonies on sundays, they only do symbolic ceremonies if the officiant is available.. as per my TA and Miami WC. I am having a symbolic ceremony at moon palace 5/15/11.

From what I read you have to get legally married first and then have the Catholic wedding.  Also, you might want to check with your home town priest first.  You might have to have permission from you parish too.  We were going to do a Catholic wedding but the date we picked you couldn't have a Catholic wedding.  We were going to have to do the pre cana classes and get permission from his priest for them too.

I am planning on asking Palace Resorts to change my WC.  I am within my 90 days and it took her over a month to respond to an email and only did so after I emailed [email protected].  Then the email referred to Tuesday Nov. 2nd instead of my actually wedding day Saturday October 2nd.  She also said she had already reserved my reception and cocktail hour locations (for the wrong day) even though I never requested any locations.  I didn't even know what my options were.

Have any other brides on here requested a new WC?  If so what was your experience with them changing it?  Mine has been horrible!.
