Hi all!

My name is Rina and my fiance and I are planning a destination wedding in the Caribbean in February of 2012...

I have been engaged for 5 months and still can't decide on a location! There are just too many gorgeous resorts to choose from.

I LOVE the gazebo at Dreams Punta Cana, but I would prefer an english ceremony and english certificate...I talked to my fiance about the idea of doing the "legal" marriage here, and having a symbollic ceremony in the Dominican, and we wasn't a fan.

I'm looking forward to seeing all the ideas and pictures my fellow brides have on this forum!!! :)

Hi Rina, there are plenty of couples who have the legal ceremony at home, usually very hush hush though, and then have their "wedding" at a resort. As for the ceremony, most of the resorts perform it in English. The wedding certificate would be in the language of the island/country you married in, but it's kind of neat. Ours is from the Dominican Republic and it's actually quite colourful and pretty. Of course, you will have to get it translated once you get back, but it's very easy to do. Good luck and congratulations on your engagement.

I have heard Jamaica is the easiest place to get married for a US citizen. They speak english and the paperwork is a breeze. We recently got back from Moon Dance Villas in Negril for our friends wedding and it was just gorgeous. We are getting married in USVI but I recommend both places.
