Hiya - Getting married at The Royal (Cancun or PDC) in Oct. '10

We have our trip booked to Cancun Oct 1 - 10, and our favorite resort in the WORLD, is The Royal Cancun.

Since we stayed there in 07, the beaches have been improved and we KNOW the rooms are all ocean front - you can hear the waves and watch the sunrise from your balcony.

We were THINKING of mixing it up and going to The Royal Play Del Carmen.....but that resort is set-back from the beach more and the only true ocean-front rooms look to be at the "ends" of the u-shaped hotel. And very expensive.

I know Playa Del Carmen is "nicer" due to the shopping area, etc...and I know the beaches are fantastic. Just not sure which "The Royal" we'll stay at.

I've looked at the wedding info on The Royal website but haven't contacted them yet. My guess is you are only allowed to use the resort photographer? And I'm having trouble finding example galleries of those photographers work, or bride reviews.

I'll explore more with some Cancun photography-specific threads!!!!

Congratulations and welcome. You will find tons of information on the threads! If you don't find info about the photographer there, see if you can find the name of the onsite wedding coordinator. She may be able to send you a link to the onsite photographers work.

Good Luck and Happy Planning.

We stayed at the Royal Cancun in 08 and got engaged at the Royal PDC this January. We're getting married at the Royal in Cancun because we liked it better.

The PDC is a lot bigger so if you're having a lot of guests that might be important and they have more wedding spaces and you can walk into Playa for shopping, drinking, eating, etc.

But... Cancun has all oceanfront rooms, the infinity pool, and it's smaller so you're always close to everything. And because it's smaller we felt like we got even more special service there.

CM - thank you soooo much for that specific feedback! That's exactly what I was looking for because we love The Royal Cancun so much, and I agree.....love the infinity pool, the ocean front rooms, the size, etc. PDC has a nicer downtown shopping area, but the resort itself looks alot different (bigger, and farther away from ocean and only the most expensive "end rooms" are ocean front)

Your post was very helpful. We actually don't need all the nearby amentities because we eat and drink exclusively at the resort wink.gif And we're not going there for the shopping.

Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
