Is 6pm too late for a July Wedding?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm getting married at Secrets maroma beach and I keep having nightmares that someone is late for the wedding, and then by the time we get married there is no light for photographs! I'm nervous that with a 6pm wedding there will only be a light until 7:30 and that may not be enough time for group photos, and newlywed photos. What do you think? Oh, and to top it all off I have already printed 6pm on the invitations!

One suggestion is to take pics with my finace before the ceremony, do a lot of people do this? We will be legally married in the states so it shouldn't be bad luck, right?

My photographer was thrilled to hear that FI and I wanted to do a 'first look' and take photos before the ceremony! I think that this is becoming really popular, esp for less traditional couples (which you probably are if you're having a DW).

I think it's great because you can have a private moment before the ceremony and will feel less rushed. Plus, I want to enjoy at least part of the cocktail hour with my guests.

So... I say go for 6pm, you'll have beautiful dusk lighting for your ceremony and the bathing suits will be off the beach by then.

(Oh...and don't you just love wedding nightmares? I have a recurring dream that I forgot to write the ceremony and have my dress altered!!)

I'm a Maui June bride. Our wedding is at 5:45 and my WC said the sun sets around 7:00. We are doing pictures after the ceremony. She says it should work out perfectly... So I would think your timeframe is okay. I think a lot depends on the length of your ceremony - which you could just ask your minister..

Thank you for responding! And yes I hate these dreams! LOL. I feel that i'm stressing about things, just because it scares me that there isn't much stress! Sounds confusing but I guess when you are use to things being complicated its hard to adjust to everything being so laid back. I think i'm going to take your advice and go with the 6pm wedding and taking photos before hand with my fi. How much time are you leaving between your ceremony and cocktail hour and reception? I have my wedding at 6pm and the cocktail hour at 6:45 and then the reception at 8pm. What do you think about the times?
