Junkanoo Band?

Hi Everyone!!! Just wanted to start off by saying how much I love this Forum. With out it I would be totally lost in my wedding planning. So thanks to everyone who has ever posted anything on here.

So, I am getting married this Nov in the Bahamas, on Paradise Island at the Riu Resort. And I have been trying to think of something different and fun do have.

I heard of Junkanoo bands, but unfortunatly no matter how much searching on google, or elsewhere, I cannot figure out how to get in touch with one to hire. Or even find info on.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Or has anyone used a Junkanoo band for anything?

Thanks!!!

We looked into the band on Grand Bahama. I'm not sure how your resort handles it but our resort (Our Lucaya) offers them as a "parade" from the ceremony to the cocktail hour or reception. It's per person in the band per hour. They have lively music and dancing. It depends on what you are looking for at your wedding but something to liven up your day! Good luck

I found that before...I'll look and see if I saved it in my favorites but I think I came across it googling - I'm not sure what your budget is but it's not cheap... I would like to have Junkanoo masks as favors but I don't think they have any small from the pictures I've seen...I hopefully get to see it in person for the first time this year! :)

We're thinking about doing a junkanoo band too and its offered through our resort - Atlantis - so our wedding coordinator would handle it all.  I think it will definitely be something to remember and guests would love it, but you're right, it's not cheap.  Since our ceremony is a flight of stairs above our reception area, it would not work for us to have the parade escort the group to the reception (I've seen this on YouTube).  Our coordinator suggested having it at the reception after dinner so it will be people up and moving and hopefully that would mean more dancing.
