help - i need beachy prelude music!

i'm looking for some recommendations on what to play for prelude music (we'll be using an ipod). wedding is at sunset right on the beach in playa del carmen, mexico. so i'd like something beachy!

 

i don't want something instrumental and ambient but i'm shying away from classical tunes. i'd love to have something with a carribean flair.

 

suggestions? what have you used?

This might be a little late, but...

 

What about any Jimmy Buffet song? Has that tropical flair to it.

 

Or what about the song, "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz?

ha, i forgot that i had posted this question! yeah, not a lot of responses on this one...

 

i ended up grabbing an album from itunes of a steel drum band. the album is a little older, but i liked it because it didn't have a lot of well-known songs and it didn't have any vocals. it's called caribbean romance by Al St. John's Trinidad & Tobago Steelband.

 

16 songs or so for about ten bucks. nice and simple, beachy ambiance.

thanks - we're set on a song for walking down the aisle, sea of love by cat power.

 

and for our sand ceremony we'll have when i'm 64 by the beatles

 

we have a few that we're still tossing around for the recessional:fly me to the moon (either sinatra or astrud gilberto's version), for once in my life (stevie wonder), got to get you into my life (the beatles), or stepping out (tony bennett). FI may have come with some other ideas as well - this one's a tough one!

For recessional we played "better when we're together" by Jack Johnson, the buena vista social club version. You can find it on iTunes under "rhythms del mundo - Cuba". They also have an awesome version of "clocks" by Coldplay.

 

In our beachy music we also had the ones cited above - Ismael and over the rainbow for prelude, Jason Mraz for our sand ceremony. We also put some reggae music - although it's more Jamaican it's still very beachy We used also "I can see clearly now" by Jimmy Cliff.
