 I wanted to post my review together with the pics but was unable to do it!!!!

 

Julieta my WC was waiting for us at the airport, and we went directly to Tulum, to a rented condo that she got for us, very inexpensive and practical as we were packed with appointments for the whole weekend.

 

We started very early next morning, at the villa, checking on every detail, the different venues on the house etc.

 

We are having the ceremony across the street, oceanfront, with a beautiful and exotic setup.

 I  finally picked bamboos with balls of flowers.  They look so romantic!

This arrangements will be reused for reception decoration. There will be safari chairs which make it so exotic!

I´m getting legally married surrounded by this beautiful natural setting and the decoration to go with it!

 

Then we  met  the different vendors. Half an hour meetings  or less was all we needed, as we had videoconferenced a lot so  all I wanted was   to meet everyone personally and check on details.

 

After the ceremony we will go to the terrace, for one hour cocktails

Caterer will serve watermelon margarita cocktails for one hour and only two rounds of mini “sopes† (mexican hors d´ouvres) as finger food ,they were so tasty ¡ Yummy!, And here we will have a marimba (also talked to the musicians and no repertoire is needed as I really  don´t  know any mexican songs and all they showed me was uplifting. And it  blends  so nicely with the mexican style that the villa has!

 

Then we will go to the pool deck where eight tables will be setup in white.

My florist will arrange for a classy display of mexican seeds, and other mexican details, touches of flowers and candles, as a centerpiece.

I just love it! Unique is the Word.

 My original idea was  to have tons of colorful details but the house is so beautiful and colorful that instead, white and Light colours will go very well!

And we will add starfish on the back of chairs..

This is it for the setup so far, and the exciting part is dinner.

We love mexican food, but this was top of the line!

The caterer is offering regional food from the Yucatan.

We are having and entree of “queso rellenoâ€, which is a regional cheese filled with meat and other spices!

We will also have a basket of toasted tortilla triangles (something like nachos) to go with it. It will be fun as a whole ball of cheese will be presented in the middle for everyone to cut and share! We will also add every other plate, a tray with a little bottle of tequila and two talavera glasses, a talavera salt shaker and lime for a toast! And then every couple (we are mainly couples) can take the tray back home as a gift! The best man, will  pick the micro and give directions as to how to drink tequila (the lime, the salt and then the shot!)

Then we will have  the traditional “cochinita†which is pork cooked with some tasty spice and red onions on top of it.

This course will be served on mexican talavera plates –the contrast looks amazing on the white linen covered table!

I really think guests will be very happy of all of these different details and learn a little bit more about mexican traditions .

We got to have a bite of everything and I asked my caterer to be really careful with the spices so that everyone gets to enjoy this special flavours without all of the sweating!

 

At the end coffee will be served on talavera coffee mugs and we will have both  mexican flan (custard) and almond dessert in small plates.

 

Music will be in charge of a great dj and a master of ceremonies. They are both great and we  went through the repertoire. I was surprised of how good they both are and their extense music repertoire! They will help with announcements, the toast, doing some funny mexican traditions they talked to me about (for throwing out the bouquet).

 

To close the party we will have the traditional mariachi band for an hour.

 

As for the legal ceremony, my WC  is taking care of all the paperwork so it willl be “legal and valid“ around the world.

We will have our rehearsal the afternoon before, and from there we will go to a local restaurant in Tulum (don´t know which one yet, as we are still being quoted for light “ceviches†and then  lobster with rice!

We were given a website for the inexpensive and great looking centerpieces for that night!

 

Guests are also getting individual quotes for transfers from airport to their  accomodation place, and then to the wedding and tours if anyone wants to!  I really do not want to have anything to do with it, and it relieves me.( Except for the tour to Chichen I´m  treating  them with.)

 

 ALso, my WC will  be taking care of the presents I chose for my bridesmaids as I really  don´t want to carry anything on the plane but my beautiful wedding gown!

 

I was told that the weather will be very different from what we experienced at the end of January . Funny enough, and contrary to my belief it was not as hot and humid as I expected! The Mayan Riviera will  definitely welcome all of us with 100% Tropical weather,

So Light clothes and tons of suntan lotion  will be in my priority list!

 

Having talked to all vendors was great, writing everything down on Schedule has taken  a lot of  pressure  off my back!

I feel so happy  about the way everything turned out! Hopefully we will be getting the wedding we want, and I think my guests will enjoy a warm, exotic and  different celebration!

 

My countdown has begun and I´m so looking forward to my special day!

what a day! saturday night, i borrowed FI's car to run some errands, parked in front of my house on the street and someone hit and runs it. Made for a crappy weekend. Then he phoned the insurance company to report it. told him to take to the body shop - today they call said their estimater looked at the damage and "it's not consistant with that of a vehicle impact - did you run into a pole or something?". No i didn't. Wouldn't I know if I did since it's on the driver's side?? Meeting with them on Thurs afternoon to discuss our options. It'll cost $1000 to fix if they deny the claim. Not the end of the world but it totally sucks and definately eats into my budget. I can't believe it. FI didn't seem mad or anything at me about it, just choked that it happend.....which kinda made me feel bad but....................

 

THEN, FI calls the restaurant for the AHR asking for some approx. dollar figures and to check max. seating capacity and freaks out when the guy misunderstood what he meant and said the min. charge is $22 800. (I did too since it's way more than what we were originally quoted). So then I had to call and sort it out and see what it was all about, BUT not before FI freaks out at me about always choosing the most expensive "everything" and how this was a poor choice, etc.etc. (we also had problem with them regarding ordering alcohol & bringing our own)

 

what a crappy week - and it's only Tuesday. i'm stressed and feeling depressed. why is it when things seem to move smoothly, a ton of bricks come along?

So sorry to hear about all the drama! insurance companies are horrible. They will do anything to get out of paying. I have had good luck with AAA car insurance. You may want to ask for a quote. 

 

I think everyone has a few days of stressful events during wedding planning. Let's hope that it has come and gone for you guys.

 

I hope the rest of your week goes better.

i'm dreading this meeting on thursday....these things make me nervous - are they going to rip me to shreads syaing i'm not being honest?

 

i'm in BC and insurance isn't privatized here, so ICBC (ins. corp. of BC) is pretty much all or nothing here, unless you've been a driver for at least 15 years or something i think it was and then the few and far between private companies will look at you.

 

yes, stress as second nature - know the feeling. hopefully there'll be no more drama after this. if i could crawl into a planning bubble and not come out until it's all done, it would be most excellent!

 

i hope your 12 hour days don't last long, you find a dream house and your planning goes smoothly!

Ugh these things always happen when you don't have time to deal with them!!

Someone hit and run my car 3 weeks ago while it was parallel parked outside my work. The guy at the body shop said the exact same thing to me too.... he said it looks more like I backed into something, when clearly I knew I didn't! I was so upset and so nervous about my meeting at ICBC... but the guy was surprisingly nice about it and didn't even try to accuse me of backing in to anything! I only have to pay the $300 hit and run deductible to get it fixed (which I still haven't had time to do).

They could have just been extra nice to me because I have an ongoing settlement with ICBC and they want to keep me happy so I will settle sooner.. haha

I hope your meeting goes as well as mine did though!! ICBC is always out to screw you... so you just have to prepare for the worst.

So sorry to hear of your troubles.  Life does seem to come like a roller coaster.  On a happy note, I did take on your idea for the matchbook mints this past weekend and they turned out really cute!  I tried to get my FI to help, but no luck there.  Maybe I will take a pic when I go home for lunch.  Thanks for this inspiration!
