May 2011 Brides!

Oh boy- now I'm nervous, I was going to wait until after the New Year to purchase our airfare too, hoping prices would drop  I'm flying out of Utah, but most of our guests are flying out of MN.  I've been to Mexico a few times and always been able to find really cheap direct flights from both locations.  Right now I can't even find a single direct flight at any price, with the cheapest being about $400.  Does anyone know what's going on?  Is it always like this, this time of year?

I live in MN and most of my guests are flying out of MN. We go to Mexico every winter to an all inclusive resort for a week and had been able to go for $1300 or even less to nice resorts. This year it was closer to $1500-$1600. My travel agent did not have an explanation but that things were definitly higher for some reason! I was really bummed but luckily most people are still coming but some cut their trip shorter to save money. We were able to get direct flights into Cancun and are going mid Feb. Good luck!

Hello Ladies!! I am kind of new to this site...still trying to figure it out...The next 4 months are going to FLY by!  I feel like I have so much to do, and still need so many details from my resort....

I am getting married May 6, 2011...at the Iberostar Lindo in Playa del Carmen Mexico...

I am currently working on putting together a brochure to send out to my guests (with their travel docs from my travel agent probably) ...with info on traveling to Mexico and a brief itinerary....does anyone have a template they can email?? It seems impossible to open any templates on this site ;)

Hi Hannah,

Welcome to the forum. You will find many useful tips on this site.

Do you have a travel agent? It really helps to hire one. You can give your guests their contact information and leave all the travel info with the TA. It will save you a lot of work and headache.

Enjoy planning.

We are getting legally married in the US and having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. We haven't told our guests that though.

Same here, I again went back and forth with that also.

I planned everything around getting legally married in Mexico, but it got too confusing with what each resort required, and it came down to I just didnt trust another country to do it for me.  But that is just  a personal choice.......No right or wrong answer. :)

We will be married few days before we leave at local Magistrates office secretly,  I am just kinda blowing off the legal part of it........like no big deal, cuz in my mind we WILL be married in mexico!!  We are only doing the legal part in the USA but the ceremony in Mexico....

Thank you ladies for sharing.

I agree, it is a very personal choice and either way what matters is that we will be married in less than 5 months and have a blast at our destination weddings :)

Cheers.
