November 2011 Brides (or Grooms)

Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone!!!!  It's so great to relive the moments through the photos and video.  But I'm sad it's over LOL.  Luckily we have our AHR on Saturday and I cannot wait to celebrate again!!  I hope everyone is having a great New Year being a MRS.!!!

Married life is great - but to be honest things are just as they were before the wedding (we moved in together after the engagement).  I guess the only thing different is Paul having to hear my complain about how big of a pain it is to change my name with every little tiny company out there.  I had completely forgotten about little things like airline miles programs and hotel rewards programs until a recent business trip and the names didn't match up.

Is anyone missing the wedding hoopla yet?  I had my AHR immediately after Mexico, so I have been in withdrawal for over 2 months now.  I don't miss planning yet, but I sure wish there was a reason to search for and buy a new wedding dress :-)  And I think a 1-year vow renewal might be a bit much.  I sometimes see "Say Yes to the Dress" on TV when I am at the gym and I get jealous....

LOL, I never thought I'd say it but I do miss the hoopla! I still like logging in here and helping future brides who will be married at my resort. I'm also still addicted to looking at the wedding dress thread, haha!

I need to get on changing my name too but put it off because of the total headache of it plus the expense. To change my green card alone (had that in maiden name over a year before we were married) is going to cost me $500. Plus I'll need a new Irish passport and Irish drivers license, also more $$. I don't even know where to start!

Courtney I didn't reply to your email because my Hotmail account was hacked and I can't get into it anymore ;-(  Why do people do that?!

Anyways, hope everyone is having a great time being a Mrs. We plan to do something nice on our 3 month anniversary.

Wow. How time flies. It's almost coming up on month 3 of married life! Things have been great here, aside from us taking turns getting sick. Blech.

I do miss some of the organizing and all that hoopla some times, so I like logging on here to remind myself that I really don't miss it as much as I think I do. Heh heh.

Oh and if anyone is interested, I did look into donating my wedding gown, although I'm getting a lot of "just keep it" commentary. Even my hubby is telling me to keep it. For what I have no idea. So he said he'll do a bridal portrait of me at some point when the weather is warmer, just so I feel like I kept it for something. LOL! I am kinda tempted at that though. So we shall see.

But anyway, there are a bunch of charities that you can donate your wedding dress to if you are interested. These are the two major charities that I've seen online:

  • Brides Against Breast Cancer - they request donations of wedding gowns from 2007 on; these gowns are then sold and the profits go towards the fight against breast cancer. (The Brides Project is a similar one but local to Ann Arbor, Michigan.)
  • Brides Across America - they take wedding gown donations (for gowns under 4 years old) and accessories to donate to brides who face sudden military deployment of their spouses or perhaps themselves.

I'm sure there are more if you Google it or maybe even look into any local charities in your communities.

I agree Eun-sil, how time flies! Scary really!

That is a great idea about donating your wedding dress to charity. I was so torn, I feel like I want to keep it (for what I don't know), but it seems like such a waste when someone else could use it.

For my TTD, I am thinking of getting it cut and having a baptism dress made with the material ..... yup Mike and I are expecting our first baby in August!! There must have been something in the water in Mexico because we never expacted we would be lucky enough to get pregnant on the first try!!
