When do you pick your wedding party??

Recommended Posts

I agree with the ladies who say ask first, figure out logistics (if they can't come) second. You def don't want any of your friends thinking you chose them as an after thought since that obviously isn't the case. Good luck! And enjoy this part bc its fun getting to ask your friends/fam to be a part of your special day, so no more stressing!! :)

I've asked my MOH and 1 BM so far, and honestly my third one is depending on who shows more interest right now, it'll either my one of my other friends or my sister. My sister doesn't know if she'll be able to make it or not because she doesn't know about traveling to Mexico with her children, so if she comes then it's her, but if she doesn't then I'm turning to my other friend who has been saying she's coming and has been really helpful.

I don't think it would hurt to casually ask your potential bridesmaids if they would be able to attend. Some may know for sure that they're going to find a way to make it, and others may know immediately that they're not going to be able to afford it. But I also agree that you should probably just ask the people closest to you... even if they can't make it to the wedding itself, maybe they would still want to take on the role of bridesmaid in helping to plan all of the events that take place at home (e.g. bridal shower, bachelorette party, etc.) and at least they would know that you thought of them!
Thanks for all of your advice and putting my mind at ease. I definitely want to share the experience of dress shopping, planning, and decision making with my BM's- and like you mentioned Karen&Rene, those who know they cannot afford to come can still actively participate in all things leading up to the DW. I'm excited!!

I was so excited that I asked people right away! I have been engaged for a year now and everyone keeps asking me when we are getting married...we haven't booked yet. We think it will be February 2011. I also told the girls that I asked that I completely understood if they were unable to make it. My one friend is trying to get pregnant and if she does get pregnant she won't be able to go, but I want her to be part of my special day if she can. If she can't I don't care if we are unbalanced! I am going to an island to avoid stress!
