Thanks! I tried she came back saying she isn't charging me an extra $200 for the food. (whatever that means) Ana hasn't sent me a contract for me to know what's she talking about.

I asked if she would like to buy the ties back from me, I haven't hear back yet. If they won't move them or buy them from me I will either have a friend move the chairs or I will only have chair ties for the the ceremony.

Good idea! I don't think I'll have the time you do since I only have one day before the wedding.

I'm going to Hobby Lobby today to see if I can find some really nice silk flowers for my centerpieces. I'm thinking about doing a low square vase with 4-5 large flowers in it. I'll get a quote from Ana on renting vases.

There's also the option of asking Pilar/Ana if you can "rent" vases from them.  They'll allow you to do that for a lot cheaper than paying for the centerpieces.  Then you'll just to have find flowers or candles to put in them.

Amy,

It's standard to have to put down a deposit for all the rooms.  My FI and I booked 40 rooms in the block because we had no idea how many people would come...so we had to put down $4000.  Only 26 rooms booked so we just had to release the other 14 rooms by a certain date to get the money back.

hey ladies, I really am sooo in love with the Now Jade but every family member of my FI are against going to mexico because of the violence that they've heard on the news... I was wondering if you could give me advise as far as easing some of their fear/ doubts about traveling to mexico? I'd appreciate the help! Thanks in advance...

Hi JB-

I posted a similar question not too long ago.  A few of the brides stated that they were impressed with the security at the resort. Most of the street violence that is occurring in Mexico is at the border towns; however a few incidents have happened in some of the tourists areas. Unfortunately the news has blown those incidents out of proportion. To me, the incidents that have happened in the tourists town compares to incidents happening in a bad part of Oakland, it only takes a turn down the wrong street and you're subject to the fire zone.  To say that because an incident happened in Oakland, it's going to happen at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay is just as ridiculous as saying the violence occurring in areas of Mexico is going to happen at Now Jade, a freaking 5 star resort where there is security patrolling the perimeter of the resort.

Below is a link to an article which you can share with your FIL's, not sure how much it will help, but it does describe the perfect serene setting.

I'm sorry I don't have much else for you.  If Mexico is so bad and Now Jade wasn't safe, then why would there be so many weddings booked, in addition to the rooms at the resort? I shared quite a bit of information and addressed my FIL's concerns, when they barely voiced their concerns...sadly here I am 4 months before the wedding date and my FMIL and FFIL have just informed us that they will not be attending the wedding.  Whatever decision you make, make it with your FH after you have both honestly weighed out all the options.  Ultimately, it's about you two and what you two want. If you're willing to accept the FIL's not attending the wedding, then do it.  If you can't, then it's probably best to look at alternatives.

Best,

Jen

Ok, for now, this is really the last question. I have heard what the photographer and videographer for the resort is like (nothing bad) and am just confused on how the whole thing works. Do they just kind of show up on the wedding day and start shooting video and taking pictures? Do I meet with them? Do I email them and tell them what I want/need from them? Am I supposed to schedule with them and tell them when they need to be there and all that stuff? If you have used the resort photographer and videographer PLEASE let me know! I am trying to get these details worked out while I stil have a little bit of time left!

Thanks!

Jess- the videographers name is Oscan Nunez. Here is a video he has done Oscarvideo | Video - Fotografia - Cancun - Riviera Maya

If you are just having him for the ceremony part which is included in the package you probably don't need to meet with him but if you purchased extra hours and want certain things caught at certain times then I would have a meeting. I have a meeting set up with him for the first day i arrive which was coordinated by Pilar. I have also exchanged emails with him to outline my timeline.

I am also contemplating having a private bar because I dont want any service wait time on drinks.

Good luck and I am 60 days out so. We leave in exactly two months April 23rd. I guess you will be there the week before me.
