I was planning to get the linen suit for the groom and have the groomsmens wear linen shirt & pants.

I feel it's already a hassle of bring the centrepiece and decor stuff. I don't think there would be room for the OOT bag. It would be nice for my guest to have them.

I wanted to do an OOT bag after seeing alll the great ideas on here but will not have room to pack everything  but I really wanted to do the travel mugs but thoes are the biggest things to figure out how to pack..........so my FI suggested we give everyone there travel mugs with the pre travel letter and ask everyone to bring it to mexico with them.....its way eaiser to pack 1 mug then 25!!! i think thats what we will do :) thanks Mark (FI) for the great idea i knew I loved you!! lol

Is anyone doing a rehearsal dinner??  which restaurant is it at??

Finally i dont know if this has been asked anywhere on here before but I feel like I know you ladies and wanted to ask you what you thought........My e ring has a thick platinum band and we have started to look at wedding bands (i want a thin band with a few dimonds on it) and I really dont want to spend more then like $500 on my band, but obv cant get a platinum band with a few dimonds on it for $500.........so here is my question.....Is it cheesy to get a white gold band to go with my platinum e ring? will it look different color, less shiney?  And if not is there a big difference beteween 14k and 18k gold? Thanks girls!!

Tracy - where did you get the stuff for your survival kits?  I wanted to put little med packets also but they get pricey!  I work at a hospital (I'm a nurse) and all that stuff is readily available, but I can't steal, haha.

I think a suit just depends on the season.  We could probably get away with it since it's an evening wedding in late October-but most of the summer months might be pretty hot.

As far as the bags-we are giving some to the guests (although I should stop saying "we" as I am the only one that actually did any of the work!).  I ended up getting some canvas bags with colored handles at the dollar store of all places.  They are nice decent bags.  I got travel mugs to put in there at www.discountmugs.com for a pretty reasonable price.  If you sign up for their email-you get some great discount codes to use.  Also-I put Sudoku and/or Crossword puzzle books in it.  And finally-a little "survival kit" that has things like mini advil packets, pepto bismol tablets, bandaids, sunscreen, etc...

I really had fun finding things to put in there but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to give to all the guests.  It's just a nice gesture if you have the time (and space in your suitcases) to put everything.  My future hubby is a commercial pilot so we don't have to pay any extra for multiple pieces of luggage-otherwise the expense might outway the novelty of it.

Hi Amie,

I'm not an expert by any means, but I don't think you would want to have a white gold ring by a platinum ring... As another option, you might want to see about getting a palladium ring. It's in the same family of metals as platinum, so it should have a lot of the same shine, look, and characteristics. It's also a true white metal, whereas white gold is a mix which will give it a yellowish tint, which may contrast being right next to your platinum e-ring. Another option would be to get a stone other than a diamond if that doesn't matter too much to you. There are white sapphires or of course cubic zirconia, either of which would look good I think..

You might try going into a store and putting your ring up against other types of metals (14k/18k white gold, etc) to see if you notice a difference and decide if it would bother you if there was one. Whatever you go with, I'm sure it'll be beautiful! Good luck!

For the medicines for the survival kits you can go to minimuz.biz. I've seen several posts about this website. For us I know we are getting very small zipper celophane bags and going to Costco and getting large bottles of advil and such and putting cute labels on them.

I'm having a hard time finding a wedding band as well but have you tried overstock.com? The white gold will give off the yellowish tint over time so you will want to stick with the same metal for both rings.

Amiep- I'm doing a rehearsal dinner/welcome dinner for all my guests at Cinque Terre the night before.  It's their Italian restaurant.  Let me know if you want more info on the cost and which restaurants you can choose from.

snl -

I'm not sure where the advil came from-my mom and her sister got all of those-but I know with the pepto-we bought a big box of the tablets.  They are all individually wrapped in plastic inside so we put 3 or 4 in each of the bags (you can't mistake what it is!).  I also got little first aid packs that had bandaids and burn cream in them at target just by accident.  I went in one day and their dollar bin items were 75% off-I got the sudoku books during that sale too.  So some of the stuff in there was purely luck.  We also put some little mini hand santizer bottles in there that we got at Office Depot for 10 cents.

You can keep the cost down by just kinda keeping your eyes peeled like that-especially if you have several months before the big day.  I found a lot of the deals on this forum-just search OOT bag or deals or something like that.  People always post deals they find and websites that might be having special offers.  One great website is www.hip2save.com.  That is my favorite-she had a post about an internet coupon on there one day for an online pharmacy and I was able to get 48 things of chapstick for like $6.

The little hangover kits or survival kits would be a good guest gift just on there own-especially if you need to save room in your bag.  I just got ziplock snack bags and made a little label that I cut out and stapled over the top.  Here's a pic I took when I was trying to figure out how I wanted to make them-

Please note-I did this at work and had started using a lot of the stuff out of the little baggy which is why it's sort of empty and missing items...lol

I'm right there with you ladies.  My FI is so happy to get out of wearing a suit.  We'll do linen pants and shirts.
