ROR...Elevator?

Recommended Posts

I have never seen anything about an elevator at ROR. Nothing online, Ive emailed the resort and never heard back and I dont recall anyone mentioning anything in their threads.

The reason Im asking, is my dad may need surgery over the next few days, thankfully it's nothing too serious, but climbing stairs for him wont be an option.....anyone past guests here can let me know?

Hi Marie! I haven't stayed at the ROR, but I have stayed at the one in Montego Bay, and I am assuming that they aren't that much different. The one in Montego Bay has an elevator in the lobby building, but it didn't have one where the guest rooms are. You can however request a room on the first floor for him. To get around the resort there were a lot of ramps, so hopefully that shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully someone will be able to give you specifics on the one in ochi. Hope this helps!

There are elevators. I would suggest trying to book your rooms all in the same area. The resort is huge and we did a lot of walking while we were there.

The wedding gazebo on the beach is at the opposite end of the resort from the standard rooms. I would say it takes about 10 minutes to walk there.

Hey there OchoRiosBride2010! When are you getting married?
Planning is at a semi-stand still. I have 2 hold ups
1) Fiance keeps thinking we have LOTS of time so he hasn't done anything on his "to do" list. I'm in nagging mode because, although there 7 months until the wedding day, we still have to get the documentation in order and he needs to buy his attire during the spring/summer season. He won't have any luck if he waits until September! LOL
2) Waiting on people to confirm. I'm getting a lot of lip-service and very few putting down cold, hard cash. I've told them "Until you put the deposit down I won't consider you coming" It's been rough because people just don't get it.

Other than that the planning seems to be going well. We're going to have the semi-private dinner because we are determined to keep our costs down. We're doing a destination wedding because we don't want the traditional church, pictures, hall wedding. As for your question about the semi private dinner, yes you have the cake but from what other brides have said in other forums, there is no room for first dance. The restaurant has other wedding parties and guests so you can't play music and they don't have room for traditional reception. Some brides did have speeches done at the semi-private but you're yelling over other restaurant chatter. It works for some brides though, so it is an option.

We're having the ceremony at the Garden Gazebo and, after dinner, having a private reception (if we have enough people) at the Seagrape on the beach. I thought it would be nice to dance under the stars. How about you? Do you know where you're having the ceremony?
