I learned to take EVERYTHING I read on TripAdvisor with a grain of salt! When I was planning my wedding at Dreams PC I read up on the resort and almost all of the reviews were good, so I booked. Every so often I would check up and suddenly the reviews weren't so good anymore. It got to the point where I started to seriously consider changing resorts, but it was getting too close to my date so I decided to suck it up. Wouldn't you know, the place was great, the food was good, the staff was lovely -- I just couldn't understand why there were so many bad reviews as our experience was fantastic!!!

Fast forward to one year later -- we're planning our first anniversary trip and decide to try a different hotel. I found a cheap trip to Riu Mambo in Puerto Plata, so naturally I checked out the place on TripAdvisor. All reviews were great, so, full steam ahead, I booked it. Boy, did "they" get this one wrong too. The place was nowhere near "Riu" standards - the food was bleh, the rooms sadly in need of some basic upgrades (a decent mattress would have been nice). I could go on and on, but do you get my point? I don't know if there's something wrong with me in that my opinion seems to be the opposite of the majority who post on TripAdvisor, or whathuh.gif I can't figure it out, but I do know that I now place very little stock in what I read on that site.
