Wind at Wedding Reception

I say stick with the outside reception and enjoy the atmosphere it creates. It was super windy for my wedding and it really didn't bother anyone at all. We had pashminas for the ladies and the men never got cold anyway. If you're having a DW, outside is the way to go as long as there's no rain or you have a tent!!

Has anyone else here had windscreens for their wedding? If so, did the hotel provide it or did you have to get it through an event planner?

windsreens have to be part of the structure of the building I think. At any rate the ones of my hotel were. I cannot think of a screen that would not be attached to the wall ?

My wedding was in June and we needed the wind. The heat would have been unbearable for my guests it if it weren't for the wind. It was very windy at my wedding but none of my guests complained.

 

I wore a fingertip length veil that blew in my face during the ceremony...but my MOH caught it and tucked it into the back of my strapless dress (we got some funny pictures of that part). Also post-ceremony we took some shots with my veil in the wind...love them.

 

Like others were saying, I think you shouldn't let the wind bother you and just enjoy the beautiful scenes around you!

I defo say still do it outdoors!! You can do a inside wedding anywhere! enjoy the beuaty and sounds of being outdoors! More than likely your reception venue will have wind blockers and you'll not be affected, guests will enjoy the breeze!! so I say go for it!!

Yes it was windy during my ceremony & reception and YES I would absolutely do it all outdoors again!

 

For me there was no other option - if my guests & I were traveling thousands of miles for a destination wedding in Cancun, it was to enjoy the outdoors and the amazing scenery. I have zero regrets.

 

It was windy during the ceremony and I thought my veil was going to blow away when I was walking down the aisle:) But my photographer was loving it! She got some AMAZING shots of my veil blowing in the wind and those are some of my favorite pics.

 

I took the veil off for the reception. The wind was actually great to have during the reception because everyone was dancing the entire time and it was good to have that nice breeze to keep them from sweating.

 

No one complained at all... it was perfect because it's not a cold wind.

 

I say do it outdoors and don't stress it. Enjoy that gorgeous backdrop that Cancun has to offer.

I was actually wondering the same thing. The WC suggested I don't have the reception on the beach because it gets windy. I'm still up in the air. the FI wants it outside.

Yeah, that's a tough call b/c I would think the wind is even stronger right next to the beach. My main concern is the wind during the dinner hour (who wants to worry about their napkin flying away?) but I think for the dancing it'd be fine to be outside as long as the sound system is strong enough.

That said, I would think that wind blockers would be easier to arrange on the beach. It could serve as a decoration backdrop perhaps - to create a more private atmosphere? Or, better yet, you could get tents w/ the option of clear side panels to block out strong wind! I have inquired about tents and they're not that expensive. Don't know how many people you're expecting but a tent for about 50 ppl could run as little as $300.

That's not bad at all!!!! I'm gonna have to ask about that. I hope it's the same price at my resort! lol
