Brides: Why did you chose PPR over PPC?

Recommended Posts

Our decision was based on price and atmosphere. We had a fun, lively group and wanted a resort that would deliver. PPR seemed much more serene and upscale, so we chose that for our honeymoon and picked PPC for our wedding. PERFECT choice.

We loved PPR, but are definitely glad we chose that resort for the honeymoon b/c there wasn't much nightlife and it was a much more formal/relaxed/upscale environment.

PPC was absolutely beautiful, more affordable for our group of 40+ to enjoy either 3 nights, or stay longer (b/c of the price, several couples made a weeks vacation out of it) ... and the lively atmosphere was just what we had hoped for. The part of the family who wanted quiet and relaxation had no problem finding it ... but there was still plenty of nightlife and FUN for the rest of us.

We are planning our 5-year anniversary trip to PPC ... and many of our guests are coming back with us!

Yes, and both were fantastic ... they just had very different vibes and atmospheres. I think it depends on your taste and personalities and what type of ambiance you are looking for.

Upbeat and fun was perfect for our DW.
A bit ritzier and more relaxing was perfect for our HM.

Everyone's tastes are different so go with what works for you! :-)

^ Tami, your post was SOO helpful! Most of the time, all you can see is the resort photos and know the number of such and such in a resort. It's hard to know the actual "vibe" which IMO is just as important if not more so. So thanks for describing the difference between the two! Since many of our guests will be young, now I don't feel bad about taking PPR off the list as the actual wedding location but I'm definitely going to consider it for the HM. :)

Same reason as NYBeachBride...I visited PPR 4 years ago and no resort has compared since. The resort is beautiful and the food was excellent. This was a trip I took with my extended family and we still talk about the PPR as our favorite trip ever. Nightlife is a bit dull from my memory but I'm hoping our group of guests will make it livelier and enjoy their time together.

Tami,

Thanks for the info! I am worried that choosing the PPR will be expecting too much out of my guests (Cheap Caribbean quotes at 1500/pp for aug 2010 (I am looking at 2011, but just chose 2010 to get an idea)...the PPC is quoted about 1,100, Dreams as well.

Everyone I talk to says the PPR is breath-taking!! but...I also have reservations about all the extras and nickel and dime feel!
