I too am sending out about 250-300 invites AND having an AHR. Same theory though of not wanting anyone to feel left out. We are banking on the assumption that not more than 75 will come at the top limit. God I hope it's less than that.

We are already getting a bit of flack from both set of parents about the destination thing. Anyone else?

Hey Daily2011,

Wow i cant even imagine inviting that many people!! wow!!

Yeah we're getting some flack too for the DW element. Mainly because this is the 3rd DW in FI family in the last few years. But my parents are being especially difficult and haven't booked yet and now suggesting that they may choose to stay elsewhere which maybe im being selfish but i think is a little unfair on me?

I hope ur guestlist does stay below 75 though or you gona be having one huge get together!! lol keep us posted on that!

JodieP-- funny thing is the FI thinks he has 500---YES 500 people to invite. I have not gotten his list yet but can't imagine that we know 500 people let alone have 500 to invite. If that is the case, my foot is going down as we are not paying the postage on that! Plus, how close are these people anyway as we don't get 500 Christmas cards and certainly never send out 500.

Gals, I think I am the one weirdo here....I sent out 50 invitations (for about 75 people total) and I'm actually HOPING that we get no more than 20-25 people coming. Honestly, I haaaate being the center of attention, and I'll feel so much more relaxed if it's just close friends and family. That's really why I chose a DW in the first place...I couldn't imagine having to walk down the aisle in front of 250 people. I'd be so nervous, I wouldn't enjoy my wedding day AT ALL.

I know that probably makes me a freak, but that's ok wink.gif

cjb0arder13 - No i get what you mean! I'd freak out with that many people to walk down the aisle in front of too! I've attended 2 DW already and they are hard work, there is alot going on at any given point so We deliberately kept the numbers down! And i really do refuse to make more than 30 Welcome books!! LOL

Good on you!!! I think making 50 invitations by hand was enough creativity for me. I'll do OOT bags, and then I'm done.

Really all I want on my wedding day are friends, family, a couple cocktails before-hand for nerves, my FI, a dress, and our vows. Not necessarily in that order wink.gif

No honestly, even though he is talking 500, I'd love no more than 20-30. It is a convention not a wedding the higher the number gets. I am planning destination because I actually might remember who was at my wedding with around 20-30. Any more than that and I may never have a recollection of who was even there! I want something way more personal. FI is just worried about leaving someone out and he owns a hospitality business and doesn't want to offend his clients who think they know us personally.

I totally will be hawking the list and we will have some conversations about it, but bottom line, these folks are not spending 1500 pp to come to our wedding. They don't know us that well! Hence, I feel pretty safe with sending out 200-300 invites and getting a MUCH smaller response.

Not a freak or wierdo - i feel the same. I have been to several large weddings and couldnt imagine having to walk down the aisle with everyones eyes on me. Whilst i am quite an outgoing person; im not neccessarily confident with being the centre of attention. Im comfortable doing it in front of my close family and friends who we are travelling with - but any more and i would freak out. I like my DW as well as i can be relaxed and be myself all day.

Jodie - do you have a pic of your dress at all? Would love a look if you do.

A question for all of you as well. I have been to Mexico before but i went in May and it was really hot. Having booked the wedding and holiday for Jan i keep reading about the north east wind and how windy it is on the beach - have any of you been in January before?

josie, this is a gorgeous dress, have you bought the proper dress or are you having it made off one of the internet sites? I am STILL struggling to find a dress, and can't decide whether to try getting a knock off one?
