I'm so sorry about what happened to you.  It made me so sad to read about your experience.  As a future Cuba bride I appreciate you taking the time to give us a heads up.

Truth be told, when brides take down a friend or "from home photographer" who doesn't apply for a work visa in Mexico (or other foreign country), the same thing can happen. Even if they are coming down to shoot your wedding and no-one else's.... If it can be confirmed that they were "paid" for their services this can lead to a lot of problems (paid can be paying for their trip to Mexico.) it's always advised that if you have someone from home travelling to photograph and attend your wedding, and it's in a country outside your own- they should apply for the work permit. Lots don't bother... But this is the risk you take!
