Song for the sand ceremony?

We had someone do a sand ceremony reading (see below) which would have been drowned out by music (unless it was playing really softly in the background). We included my children in this as it symbolized the joining of our family with DH, and even with the reading and extra bodies participating, it was over in less than 2 minutes. Because of that, we didn't miss not having any music.

 

"Lucy and Tom, today you join your separate lives together and those of your children. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are and all that you'll ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be."

we had "One Love" by Bob Marley. It was absolutely perfect and it took about 2 minutes to pour the sand so I think a song is definitely needed or there would have been an awkward pause. Hope that helps

I'd like to use Sea of Love by Cat Power.

that's what i plan to do (we're using when i'm 64 by the beatles). and i'm walking down the aisle to sea of love by cat power!

my song was the instrumental to the mary j, be without you..the beat was sooooooooo perfect!

At the beginning of the ceremony we had a little reading. Then once the reading was over we played "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. We stopped the song when we were done pouring - even though the song was not over.

we found an instrumental version of 'today was a fairy tale' by Taylor swift... not a huge fan of the original but i love love love the instrumental
