i've been considering getting a really loose perm for a long time, but my hair girl said to wait until my hair was less damamged. that was a few years ago. since then i don't blowdry everyday and i hardly use my straight iron anymore.

anyway i'm scared, but also really want one! anyone had one? or use a different method to get loose/wavy curls?

Tara - Are you sure you need a perm? Your hair is so pretty! I have to admit I haven't met anyone who's had a perm in a long time so I'm not too much help... BUT that being said you do have lots of time before your wedding incase you don't like it. So if you're going to do it - do it sooner rather than leter... just in case wink.gif!

I have been debating this myself...I don't want a kinky tight perm that was in in the 90s...I want big, loose curls.

My hair use to be bone straight but the last year or so, it has a crazy wave to it. Lately I have been wearing it natural but I need to find some mousse or something to put in it because it gets kinda frizzy.

I say, "DO IT!"

The grass is greener on the other side, lol. Oh how I have longed for hair that is straight, hair that looks the same wet and dry. I have yet to own a flat iron that keeps my hair as silky straight as yours is. Don't mess with a good thing!

I've given up on straightening and learned to love my partially curly/partially wavy/partially straight hair. Have you ever tried washing and then braiding your hair wet? Play with it, you can change the thickness of braids to get different types of loose waves. A french braid creates nice waves too. My cousin has fine straight hair and this makes her look like she has a good perm.

hmmm... I have a friend who was debating this too... Well, as a hairdresser, I say go for it, but make sure you trust your stylist, you really don't want to come out looking like a poodle!! lol!! Even though it's a "perm" they always grow out... Just make sure your hair isn't too damaged or you aren't coloring your hair too, that will really damage it further!! Good Luck!!

the grass is definitely greener, as i was recently debating the japanese straightening for my frizzy curls!

i say do it if you're curious; it's hair - it grows out! i agree with kashmira, tho, better sooner than later!

(**note - this from a girl who randomly went into a salon in dublin and came out with hair 13 inches shorter**)

i agree with shelly if you foil your hair i wouldnt....it really dries it out if you and your STYLIST think you should make sure its a loose perm better safe then sorry they dont come out all loose and soft like a curling iron....i think some people think you can just wash and go but good products help...good luck hun......but if you and your stylist think youi should then go for it.......just do not do it before your wedding.............

I've always wanted a perm. I've tried three times now... and every single time I wake up the next morning with my normal STICK straight hair! I don't even wash it and it goes back to stick straight. What crap!
