Beach Ceremony - no chairs - is this a big deal?

Recommended Posts

If you like everything else about this place then I'd say just try and roll with it. The blankets/sheets on the ground do sound like a good idea for those who get tired of/can't stand for that long. Good luck! :)

I just went to a wedding on the 14th of July, and we stood at an outside ceremony. It was flippin' hot! My heels kept sinking into the grass!! lol. But, if it were sandy, I would've just taken them off (I should've anyways!!). Anyways, it really wasn't that big of a deal that we stood. It's going to be hot whether we sit or stand! If there are elderly there who might need to sit, is it possible to get just a few chairs or a bench?? That's my main concern. Give the choice, I'd rather sit because I'm lazy - but it's not a big deal to stand either.

We weren't going to have chairs initially, and we're expecting anywhere from 100-150 people. But in the end, we're actually having benches, so the beach looks less cluttered than with a chair for every body.

I think you'll be fine w/o chairs, especially being that it's a beach wedding.

But, I love the look of this wedding, they used ottomans instead of chairs, and in a serpentine aisle. Love it! Just an aside.

I will only have 6 guests and if we end up on the beach I am planning on having them stand. It should be a short ceremony (much to FH catholic mother's dismay) I feel like it will look so sad to only have 6 chairs sitting out there.

I went to a beach wedding several years ago and everyone stood. I wasn't expecting it so was a little annoyed because i was in heels and didn't want sandy feet during the reception. But it wasn't a problem. We all stood and it was fine.

I love this idea .... that's what I was going to suggest ... offering a place to sit on the beach itself instead. Perhaps part of the OOT bags could be a blanket/towel for the ceremony ... or this white sheet idea is fabulous ... and looks so classy in these pics!

Not having chairs for guests on a beach wedding isnt a big deal at all. You can arrange the setting for the guest to be a part of the wedding...by having them stand in a circle like the ring. And the guest will close up the ring as you enter and then open as you leave. Ive seen the group hold candles as part of the ceremony as they stood. Theres a lot of things you can do or just allow them to stand. As long as the ceremony isnt a longggggg one they'll be fine. Give them the flower petals to toss or a glass of champagne or wine to celebrate right after and they'll be good to go.
