Hi Ladies,

Good idea KP Southie!  I posted the cupcakes in my profile and I added our christmas card photo (us with the donkey) the only picture I have received from my photographer as of yet!  She's a good friend though, so I don't really want to press on her too much about it.  I'll post a link as soon as I get them though!

lshaef is right, there are no mosquito's during the day, but they are really prominent at dusk (5-7pm) around the beach, beach restaurant (including sushi lounge which is on top of restaurant), and pool area.  You really should bring your own bugs spray.  Let your guests know too, unless you plan on bringing enough for everyone, they will thank you!

Spell check, who uses spell check here?  It's a forum, not a job!   ;)

Have fun ladies!

I am looking to buy the bug spray wipes (with deet) for people - to put in the OOT bags.

Lauren - I think I recall you had your rehearsal dinner on the beach with tacos.  How were the tacos and what did you serve with it (rice and beans, salad, dessert)?  Were the tables/chairs set-up by Ceiba and included in the set-up cost?  I am also curious where you did your cocktail reception.

Thanks for answering so many questions!

Haha!  Ok, ok, you girls are funny & very right about the spelling!

Oh boy, so I was planning to have my rehearsal dinner at the restaurant near the beach and my welcome reception at the sushi bar or near the pool.   Hmmm I wonder if I should switch the rehearsal dinner to the restaurant in the front?  I didn't eat there though when we had a site visit though because it was closed.  Did any of you?

My main concern though is it being real buggy for the wedding reception.  I guess the best we can do is get lots & lots of bugspray and citronella oil/candles.

Lauren -your cupcakes were very pretty & look yum!

YES -Thanks for answering all the questions & providing feedback.  It definitely helps!!!!!

Sorry, I forgot to address the cocktail hour!  We did ours by the pool at about 5:30pm. I couldn't tell if there were bugs because my dress was long  and they really just hover from about the knee down.  Our reception wound up being indoors due to thunderstorms forecasted that evening.  But the first night we met with Paola on the Sushi deck lounge it was dusk and we had to leave because we were being eaten alive!  I would say definitely use citronella candles wherever possible out there.

Lauren - did you do your cocktail hour at the sushi lounge area?  How were the bugs?

The hotel provides the guests with a bug sprayg that DOES NOT work so take your own!

KPSouthie,  We had our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant in the front, it has more mexican fare but was very good too.  They did a prefix menu for us that we chose ahead of time.  I'm glad we had ours there, it felt more intimate eventhough it wasnt private and the bugs are not bad there at all.  I probably preferred the restaurant by the ocean better, but that's just because I love seafood!  :)

Oh no! I am sooo worried about the bugs now. Everythign we have planned is on the beach around dusk:

Welcome cocktails at 6pm on the Sushi Terrace

Rehearsal dinner on the beach at 5pm

Wedding cermony on the beach at 5pm (followed by reception on Yaxche terrace)

Sunset is at 7:15 --- do you think the bugs will be terrible!!  Should I change the locations!?

Hi Tracy,

I think our sunset time was an hour earlier 6:15pm or so, and the bugs were out about 5:30-7.  So maybe with the later sunset time you may not run into a problem until later?  I think the Yaxche terrace is the one next to the beach on the far left of the hotel.  You will probably be ok there for the reception, I would just try to avoid the sand at dusk.  Welcome cocktails at the sushi lounge might be a challenge at 6pm since you are overlooking the brush area, just come armed with bugs spray and you should be ok!  Hope that helps!

Hi ladies

Checking in to see how everyone is doing?  There are so many things to decide on:  music for ceremony, processional, father -daughter/ mother- son, first dance, etc.  Where are all of you in your planning stage?

Have you put deposits down for everything?  I am just waiting for our WC to give us the most up to date proposal to send her a deposit for Eventos and the DJ.  I know she is busy with a lot of weddings right now so hopefully we will get this soon.

Anyone on the east coast ready for spring?  I love skiing so I enjoy getting the snow but come on...freezing rain was not fun today.

Ishaef -I agree, the freezing rain isn't fun at all, but I am happy before it changed over that it got rid of a fair amount of snow!  During the last storm Boston was hit hard with 20 inches so parking is always a mess. You said you werelocking in yoru DJ, who did you go with?  This is something I still need to pick.

I personally have quite a few outstanding action items that I'm hoping to nail down by the end of the month.  One of my biggest challenges right now is finding a minister or someone to reside over the ceremony. We want to get to know the minister beforehand so we can create a personalized ceremony.  It's also important to us that they are relatively easy to understand.  Besides having a friend or family member become a justice of the peace for the day, can anyone recommend a local minister or justice of the peace in Mexico?

Also, how is everyone getting their OOT bags & items down there?  I was thinking of splitting stuff up among our wedding party.
