To give you the quick overview (so many things went wrong its hard to write about all of them).

1) Ceiba del Mar double booked my wedding and when I discovered this by mistake less than three months before my wedding, they were initially rude and the old wedding planner yelled at my mother and hung up the phone on her. At this point all my contracts were final and most of my guests had booked. After a hysterical several days and several phone calls to the general manager, it finally got worked out but I wouldn't wish the stress it caused on any of you.

 

DO NOT USE THE SPA. My husband got an infection from the spa which caused us to have to cancel our honeymoon and to rush back to the states so he could have emergency surgery. They served the wrong fish at teh wedding. It was inedible. I spit mine out. My goody bags were stolen. I brought them to the rehearsal dinner and they told me to leave them at the bar and my guests could pick them up from there. Most of my guests forgot to pick them up and the goody bags and all their conents "disappeared" and were never recovered. The bartender at my rehearsal dinner propositioned most of my female guests, including my mother and pregnant sister in law. Such behavior is inappropriate and unacceptable. My guests had health issues on their return- two returned with what they told me were bed bug bites, one broke her tooth on the food, and another returned with bacterial pneumonia (she went straight to the hosptial from her flight). These are just a few of hte issues I had (I can go on if you would like, just ask). Ceiba is a beautiful resort and should be an ideal place to get married. UNfortunately, its not. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I don't think the beauty of the place overcomes the issues I faced and the possibility/risk that they will ruin your wedding too. I wish I had better information to report, but sadly I dont.

Hello Ceiba del Mar brides!!

 

Now the new WC is Paola and she is amazing! Diana is still coordinating weddings and both are wonderfull !!  We have worked in Ceiba del mar a lot of times, and if you need any reference please ask them! Does anyone know how much a taxi costs from the airport to Ceiba del Mar?  When I did my site visit, we had transportation set up for us.

 

Will a taxi hold 3+ people with one suitcase each?

Not sure but you can ask Ceiba to pick you up.  They charge around $90 roundtrip (so I guess $45 one way) for a van that can hold from 4-6 people.

We have shot a few weddings at Ceiba del Mar and it has beautiful locations for photography. If you want to checkout the scenery here is a wedding we did there earlier this year.

We are working with a transportation company that Paola and Diana recommended.  Our guests can book online directly with the company, and either pay through PayPal or pay when they arrive.  The rates are really affordable.  It is private in the sense that the only people in the vans will be your wedding guests - so they will coordinate arrivals and departures to pair more guests together to keep the costs lower.  I don't have the info with me right now, but email Diana/Paola and ask for their recommended vendor.
