Welcome to the forum! I just photographed a wedding at Barcelo maya Palace and they had a TON of stuff for kids to do, including their own water park. There seemed to be children having fun everywhere, and the staff were all very welcoming and accomodating to them.

On top of that, it is a gorgeous resort for adults too. Very beautiful

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, well wishes and great suggestions :-) I appreciate the feedback. I've been a board lurker for a few days and I'm just now figuring out that I had replies (haha)! I'll research everyone's suggestions. I really appreciate it. This is a little overwhelming, but I'm finally feeling like I'm getting a handle on things so I'm diving in!

Congrats and welcome to this forum. I too was looking for a family friendly resort since I really wanted my niece and nephew to be able to attend and stay in the same resort so we decided on Dreams Tulum. You will find a lot of useful information on this forum that will help you narrow down your search. Happy Planning.

Hello Campbell Soup!!

I just joined this website yesterday and I came across your thread. I was curious as to what destination you decided on. I am in the same position as you also planning a destination wedding but it has to be affordable and family orientated (I have a 15 y/o son and one on the way). We are planning a date sometime next year and also looking for the cheaper seasons. I read through this website and Beaches at T&C sounds amazing but I don't know if that is going to be too expensive or not.

Good luck to yourself!!

Hey hun!!  Welcome to the site!!  You are absolutely going to love it here :o)

I am getting married at Aventura Spa Palace June 25, 2011!  Aventura has two sides -- a family side -- Aventura Cove Palace -- and an adult side -- Aventura Spa.  What is nice about that is that they are connected, so if any of your guests would prefer adult only, they can stay on the other side and still come over for all of the wedding festivities!  We are all actually staying on the adult side, but I liked all of the facilities on the Cove (family) side better, so all of my wedding events are over there!

Aventura has one of the best free wedding packages that I found when I was searching too.  Here is a site to see their complimentary and other packages.  They also have free resort dollars (up to $2000) there now that can be used on their photographer, videographer and wedding packages, which is a great plus!  ...and they have group benefits where you can get free nights, free cocktail party and free private events.  All of the info is on their site!  From their availabilty calendar it looks like your date is wide open!

If you have questions about it, feel free to message me!  Good luck in your planning!!
