Don't be sorry!  The 24th is good! I'm not disappointed. I only first contacted Mayte 6 weeks ago. I'm just happy she still had a weekend date in June open!

I was wondering which 3 entrees you picked and around how much did it ended costing at the end with the salad? did mayte then print it out as a place menu for your guests?

I wanted to have control over the price wise and I thought I could get a better bargain.. also we have a little less than 30 guests.. so Mayte let me pick 3 entrees off of the Jellyfish menu and a salad thats how we're going to do it..plus appetizers during cocktail hour.. see if Mayte will send you the actual Jellyfish menu so you can figure out more options..  Also, as far as drinks.. we have some heavy drinkers and some non drinkers.. after seeing the Jellyfish menu for drinks I decided to stick with the 2 hours of open bar for local.. because some of their drinks can range up to $9 each, so say if a person ordered 4 $9 drinks within 2 hours of open bar.. you'd pay the set price of $20 and not $36.  For the Champagne toast, I'm planning on bringing some of the complimentary champagne bottles from the resort when we get there, I asked Mayte if we could bring our own and she said thats fine.

I am so glad I found this forum, it has already been so helpful and really put me at ease about things.

 

I am planning my wedding a the Jellyfish for February 2013. I know it's still more than a year away, so I have a couple of questions since I have never done this before, and a lot of you have

 

- How many months in advance did you send out the STDs and invitations for your destination wedding? I want to try and get an idea on who will come and also so I can get a quote!

- Did you wait for a final count to get a quote from Mayte?

- My fiance and I really want to provide open bar for our wedding guests for the whole night - especially because they are going to be spending a lot of money coming down for the week. We did think the open bar pricing was a little pricey per person, especially since are are anticipating 50-60 guests. Do any of you brides who had that many guests have any recommendations? I would say 1/2 of the guests are heavy drinkers and the other 1/2 won't have that many. 

- For the transportation - did they keep the bride and groom separate? I would really like to have the first time to see each other be when I walk down the aisle, but if that's not possible then I want to make plans to do pictures of the moment at the resort.

- Does Mayte provide an officiant or do you have to go get one on your own?

Welcome to the Jellyfish page!  You will find so much useful info on here!!!

 

I sent out our STDs around April or May, a year before the wedding, and then the invitations went out at the beginning of August.  I wanted people to have lots of time to book, especially knowing that our resort tends to book up fast.  I got the quotes moving around July, so I could have the time to include the info in the invitations.  I made them super informative.

 

We have quite a few people that don't drink either, and we have decided to forget the Open Bar and just go with running a tab all night.  This also opens up more choices for those that do drink, and (from reading reviews on here), it can actually work out cheaper.

 

I believe that they would send you to the Jellyfish first, then your groom and all the guests afterwards.  It gives you a chance to get ready too. 

 

I'm not sure about the officiant, I'm sure she would book him/her for you.

 

My best advice to you is to just ask.  Ask about the transport and the officiant (Rick York is supposedly awesome if you can get him, but extra $$), the worst she will say is no, then you are no worse off.  Mayte will bend over backwards for her brides, it just may take a couple days for her to get back to you, since she is crazy busy with her current brides.
