Jellyfish Restaurant

Hi Robyn! we leave in three weeks for our wedding and I am starting to get a little anxious about the budget! I am curious what/if you tipped on top of the food cost?  Thanks for your help, your comments have been helpful. Did you love the fire dancers? We are debating whether or not we should get them or not,  I think the guests would love it!

You have to add 16% to all your food and drinks. The only things you do not need to add taxes to are the decorations/flowers/DJ's etc. The resort charges 26% because its 16% tax and 10% gratuity.

Sherio9090 - If I can remember correctly I believe the mozza sticks came in 3 pieces. For a group of 30 adults we ordered mozza sticks, Breast Chicken Brochette, and butterfly shrimp for Appy's and had the $35 option for dinner. There was tons of food and it was delicious!

Hope this helps!

Try checking out Pastor Rick York.  I'm 99% sure that he is english speaking, and there are reviews and forums on here about him,  but I've heard he's amazing.

I think Mayte is just slow at replying. Every e-mail I send takes weeks to get a reply. I'm not upset about it.. I know she's busy and with my wedding scheduled from 14 months from now, I figure I'm lower priority than someone who is getting married this spring. I'm currently waiting on some more info from her so that we can then get an invoice together, and get a deposit to her. From the rate of things.. I don't expect to be officially booked until March. lol. It IS a little frustrating but I try to remember how busy she is and that I know she will do an awesome job when the time comes.

Also, thanks for reminding me about getting the judge!

Does anybody know if he speaks English? Does that mean he will do the ceremony instead of the normal officiant?

I want to say mainly all the judges there speak Spanish, that was the reason why we did a symbolic ceremony, if you end up doing symbolic look into Pastor Rick York, he has gotten popular this past year and books early in advance and I believe his price has gone up.. definetly worth it though, speaks English and sends you your ceremony in writing beforehand so no surprises.

Erin/InloveinKorea- Mayte is extremely busy and has multiple weddings during the week and shes doing it all on her own, just rest assured as your time gets closer she focuses on you.. shes replying to emails/planning weddings on a practically a daily basis.. and if a couple of weeks go by, just send her another email or write "Important" in your subject :)

Sheri- for Apps this is how it worked out for us:

27 mozarella sitck x 1.5 = 40.50 US
27 butterfly shirmps x 2.5 = 67.50 US
27 hot pockets x 1.5= 40.50 Us

Total appetizers: 148.50 US   staff are extremely accommodating.. one of my bridesmaids apparently didn't get one of the hot pockets and she wanted one so they went and cooked one just for her.   we ended up changing the menu a couple weeks before by looking over the resturant menu also and this is how it turned out: Entree: Capresse salad
Main course: Cheff´s pasta, jellyfish seabass, Redsnaper filet alex style. (each person picks one)
Sides: grill vegetable + sauteed potatoes with bacon and parsley so that came out to $32pp plus the total of appetizers.

Jlarruda you are a wealth of great information!

Erin/InloveinKorea - I share your worries!  My wedding is THIS June 24!  Still haven't heard from Mayte since before Christmas, trying not to lose my mind!  We are starting to get a lot of pressure for travel and booking information from family members but until I have sent Mayte our deposit I don't want to send the invitations.  I can't wait to get this ball really rolling!

I also wanted to make sure we can do a civil ceremony on a Sunday...  that could be a big issue!

jlarruda - for the sides, you get both right?? Not one? The menu seemed like it was potatoes OR veggies but that doesn't make sense... just want to confirm with you to not bug mayte with such small questions, thank you :)

also, i dont know if you can give me your opinion on this, but do you think this is enough food for 45 people for the appetizers?

20 butterfly shrimp

5 plates of antipasto (they say its for 4 people)

5 plates of chorizo (spanish sausage) (also 1 plate for 4 people)

15 beef brochettes

15 chicken brochettes

THANKS :)

MNtoMX - We Loved the fire dancers! I did as a surprise to my husband and guests and I am so glad I decided to book them. I was back and forth on it for about a month and decided to finally just do it as it only happens once. I think we ended up tipping $300 which was about 10% of all the actualy services(food, drink, decorations).

Astef, I want to say you only pick one side, it was definetly enough food though.  I had the jellyfish seabass with shrimp in ginger sauce and sauteed veggies..so good! As far as the apps, I wanted finger food especially since people were on the beach during the cocktail hour.. so as far as the antipasto/chorizo I wouldn't know.. that would be something that you can discuss with Mayte in person or just ask her in email because she told me how much would be enough, shes really good about that.  Don't worry too much about the small details (I know its hard) because you just go over it with Mayte and you'll be at ease.
