Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Seriously, Megs, you are great! I have a question about how you guys did the bar. Did you just pay per drink consumed? How do you think that turned out? More/less than having an open bar? We have about 35 people...about 30 like to drink! haha.... I am torn on how we should do the bar situation....

Also, was there a complimentary welcome drink deal when guests arrive to the Jellyfish? (before ceremony)

This was my invoice from Mayte.  Liz T - it costs $400 for a speaker set-up and it is an extra $200 to have her DJ there.  I believe that is what the girls were mentioning. :)

I mis-typed...sorry for the confusion...The DJ is listed right above the cake, which is the $200...

Here is my latest response from Mayte, I asked if sparklers were not available for purchase in the DR. Her response was:

think is not problem if you purchuase the sparkles..., more brides brought from home.

Un abrazo

So, sounds like if we can get them there, we are good??

- Brides bring sparklers from home.. even though we're not supposed to fly with them.. lol.. lets hope I don't get stuck in customs so I can return and write my review :)

- Welcome cocktail for your guests is free when they arrive at the resort

- About 1-2 months before our wedding I changed our menu.. I wanted to have control over the price wise and I thought I could get a better bargain.. also we have a little less than 30 guests.. so Mayte let me pick 3 entrees off of the Jellyfish menu and a salad thats how we're going to do it..plus appetizers during cocktail hour.. see if Mayte will send you the actual Jellyfish menu so you can figure out more options..  Also, as far as drinks.. we have some heavy drinkers and some non drinkers.. after seeing the Jellyfish menu for drinks I decided to stick with the 2 hours of open bar for local.. because some of their drinks can range up to $9 each, so say if a person ordered 4 $9 drinks within 2 hours of open bar.. you'd pay the set price of $20 and not $36.  For the Champagne toast, I'm planning on bringing some of the complimentary champagne bottles from the resort when we get there, I asked Mayte if we could bring our own and she said thats fine.

YES! We will bring our own sparklers! I can't wait to hear how it works for you!

Is there a free welcome cocktail at the JELLYFISH when guests arrive? (your post said resort?)

I like the idea of picking entrees! I think we will do that, the only issue will be narrowing it down! So, in picking the entree, do you pick a side too or just the entree? And, did you pick the same salad for everyone to come out first? Did Mayte give you a discount on the salad> I am thining caprese salad but it's $12 or something on the menu so I was wondering if we would get a price break??

Thank you! for the suggestion of bringing champagne! i didn't know we could do that, we will probably do the same. I also think we will do two hours of open bar and maybe back to beer and wine after if they allow that?

Anyone getting married around this time (beginning of November):

Can you please give me a general timeline of when you are having your ceramony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception?  What did you put on your invites?  I am about to order save the dates for my Nov 9, 2012 at the Jellyfish and I am just looking for a right time to tell the designer who is doing my invitations.  I want to be sure that I have enough time for some pictures after the ceramony before the sun sets :)
