Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to let you ladies know that Mayte has been replying to emails almost daily now, updated my preinvoice and transportation is now $6 pp, I guess they had to change companies due to prices going up because of gas.

All you November brides.. can't believe how fast its approaching! where are you in your wedding planning? We will have about 28 of us, I keep on going back and forth if we should just let all of our guests order what they want or do a set menu so there are no surprises for us at the end of the night price wise.

It's totally personal preference, but to me, I wanted to set the menu and give only a few choices just because it seems a tad more formal to me, and doing destination is already so different FI's family that we wanted to keep something traditional!

I feel like there's nothing else I can do with Mayte right now... my wedding isn't till April, and I've already picked the menu, sent decorations and cake photos, decided on times, got the pastor booked, photographer booked... until people put their deposits down I can't do OOT bags.... and our deposits are due on October 3rd and no one has put them down yet (other than the 10 people we got intially). It's driving me nuts, people are so last minute!! :( Hopefully they'll all rush in soon!!!

I'm getting so excited!  November will soon be around the corner (yippie!)
I was just wondering if any other bride out there has or is considering doing a butterfly release at the end of their ceramony?  I haven't heard back from Mayte in a long time, as she was going to be looking into the price to do this for me.

Also I have just seen another bride blog about this, and I thought I'd share it with all of you (because I think it's such a neat idea) there are things called Sky Lanterns that you can purchise for a very reasonable price and they look amazing at night!  www.theskylantern.com

November brides, what's everyones status on planning?  Can anyone share any neat/different ideas to incorperate into our ceramonies/receptions?

Guest count is now up to 80!! GULP

I am interested in the skylanterns also, although concerned on the environmental impact. Please let us know if Mayte says they are allowed. I know some resorts do not allow them. We want a bonfire and Mayte said we would have to see how windy it is that day because of the jellyfish roof quote name="Digado" url="/t/56479/jellyfish-restaurant/430#post_1670064"]

I looked into Sky Lanterns a few months ago because I saw them in a movie and was sooo excited until I read all about the environmental risks and major fire hazards. With the Jellyfish roof, I highly doubt it would be allowed, and if it is, I would be very scared to do it!! Some of them are environmental friendly and biodegradable but you can't predict wind patterns and if they are still on and hit a tree, not good.... I just don't think they're worth the risk!

It can be pretty windy down there.  When we did our site visit in April at the Jellyfish it was waaay too windy for sky lanterns.  My Fiance and I are planning on doing the firedancers, we have seen pictures online of other brides doing this at the Jellyfish and we cannot wait to surprise our guests with the fireshow.  It is also something that is not wind dependant and Mayte can arrange with no problem (it's on their wedding menu).  November is right around the corner - I can't beleive how close we are coming!  I too am at a point where Mayte has all my information, I have a few final OOT bag purchases and have to finalize the song listing for the DJ, but am mostly finished with the reception at the Jellyfish.  Mayte makes it soo easy!  I am just finishing the details for the at home reception now!  November 14th here we come! (I think I've been counting down since a month ago!)

Hi Liz, I can't wait to hear about your experience in November! We are doing the same as you (staying at ME and wedding a Jellyfish) so I am excited to see what was great, good, bad or horrible (hopefully no bad or horrible!) Are you doing either a welcome cocktail hour or dinner a ME?? What DJ are you using? We are going to use the Jellfish DJ but have not seen any reviews on it...

our wedding is Feb.3! it is all going to come up so quick!

I was worried about ppl putting deposits down too, but our deadline is tomorrow and we've gone from 9 to 16 booked in 4 days, with people going tonight and tomorrow to bring us to 20.  They will book, just probably at the last possible minute like our group....
