Photographers at Dreams PV

Recommended Posts

First of all, I apologize if this topic has already been discussed. I searched throughout the forums and the only information I could find about this topic was several years old.

Our wedding is booked for Feb. 18, 2011 at Dreams PV. We are debating whether to use an outside photographer or to just use the one that the resort uses. With the new fees in effect ($500 fee plus $500 deposit), I am just not sure if it is worth the extra money since we are trying to stay on a budget.

I would love to hear from any of you brides who have used the Dreams PV photographers or if anyone has any tips or advice, I would love to hear from you!

Thanks so much!

Your best bet is probably going to be to fly in a photographer. Then you don't have to pay the $500 fee (not sure what the deposit is, or who that's from).

But i just did a quick Expedia search (although I highly recommend booking with a travel agent), but to fly two photographers into your wedding from Chicago and have them stay three nights is only around $1000-2000. Prices aren't out yet for February, so I'm not sure if it'll be more or less..

Rebecca has a list of photogs that you can use as part of a Dreams PV wedding package. As well as a list of photogs that they allow to come in without paying the extra fee. I would get that list from her and then contact the ones that you like. Or if you are looking at using an outside WC contact them for who they like to work with. Also, if you look in the Wedding Reviews section, there are a bunch of reviews as well as sample pics from Puerto Vallarta weddings.

So it's $1000 extra now to use an outside vendor for Dreams PV? Hmm interesting what if they're a guest at the resort? is that the same thing? Sorry just trying to help I know that can get really pricey really fast - all the extras. But if you flew someone in as a guest of the resort I would imagine that would waive the fee? or no?

I just got back from Vallarta and Sayulita checking with vendors for my wedding in November and you can totally use outside photographers in the area at Dreams as long as they are approved by the hotel for no extra charge. But, if you are using Dazzling Details as your planners it doesn't matter who the photographer is you there is no extra charge.

Hi guys,

I'm looking at booking with Dreams PV but want to make sure I'm aware of all the potential hidden costs that may arise. So just to confirm what you said MandyB, it's $500 fee with $500 deposit? Does the deposit get refunded or put towards the total costs of the wedding? I think I read somewhere that it gets returned once they do a site inspection to confirm that there was no damage to the property or something. We're looking at hiring a local photographer at a reasonable price so I'm okay with the $500. (Again, assuming that the other $500 is a deposit that gets returned at the end).

Would it be possible to say even "book" the photographer a night at the hotel so that they are technically a guest and just pay for 1 night's stay? Assuming a night at the hotel is less than $500 anyway!
