Starting P90X tomorrow finally! I still haven't finished setting up or home gym room at the new house...but I said i was starting it March 1 and I have to stick to what I say or I'll never be able to force myself to do it everday. And i never cancelled my gym membership oops, maybe I'll use it occasionally this month for the treadmill. I also think i'm going get better at actually recording my calories on loseit.com. I kind of want a body bug too. If I record my calories in and out I figure there's now way I can't lose some fat!

We'll see how the diet goes, I'll probably just modify it to suite me. I'm a vegetarian so I have to find my lean protein in beans and other stuff like that. I'm not sure if i'm going to get any protein drinks for after the workout, my boyfriend drinks them and I think they're gross lol.

Ugh I better be on here tomorrow telling you all about how much pain I'm in from my first day, no more putting it off!

Do any of you feel hungry like ALL the time during the day?  I'm considering trying some sort of low calorie protein bar after my workout?  He really stresses these "recovery" drinks, but i'm so not a protein shake kinda girl.  Do any of you do anything after a workout?  and/or what are you doing for breakfast to keep you full!?!?!  I feel like all I want to do is eat from breakfast to lunch!

Yes you have to eat more on P90x - and in general with an aggressive program like P90x - you literally have to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day.

For recovery drink - I read that chocolate milk also makes an excellent reovery drink.

breakfast i eat "big" like an egg white omelet with spinach and tomatoes and maybe an english muffin.

Ahhh I wish I had the time in the morning for a breakfast like that!! I would have to get up at 5am :oP.

I am starting to think I'm not eating enough!?!?!  I am really trying to be sensible about what I eat, but I just plugged everything I had so far today into the "loseit.com" site, and I've only had about 650 calories so far (including breakfast, snack and lunch).  I usually have another snack after I get home (about 100 calories) and then dinner.  Sometimes I have a small snack after dinner too (about 100 calories).  I feel like my average daily calorie count is around 1200-1400 depending on the day?

I'm anxious about seeing results, but I know it will take some time.

I second that - lean is better because it's emphasis is on cardio which will generate an overall slimming down effect...  great for toning up as well.  good luck!  I blogged about our p90x experience (and we're doing a giveaway that ends today!)  http://ssfitexpress.blogspot.com

Good luck tomorrow!!

Whew...ok...feeling a little better about the weight gain...(as long as it goes away!!!!)  The beach body site actually has a FAQ about this specific issue. The fitness adviser replies...

"The muscle becomes inflamed and slightly swollen with fluid retention. This temporary retention of fluid can result in a 3- to 4-pound weight gain within a few weeks of a new program."

The team beach body site is so helpful to me for answering basic questions I have about the program!

Thats interesting Jessica, good thing you read that now you know what you're doing is still right and it's not real weight gain! Do you take your measurments at all or just weigh yourself? I think I might take measurments so I can see what's actually changing, my weight doesn't seem to change much no matter what I do. I don't really need to lose too much, just rearrange it haha. Have you considered taking any protein supplements? I think that would help a lot with being hungry in the morning, and the protein is great with helping your muscles recover! I might start taking some now that I'm doing P90X. If your body goes into starvation mode, it will burn muscle first to get energy, not fat, so it's not good to let yourself starve it actually makes it way harder to lose weight. I'm going to check out the beach body site too.

I know!! I think we are in a similar boat as far as weight loss/toning is concerned. I am 5'4 and weigh 125lbs (127 right now! lol), so I know that I don't really need to lose much weight, but my body needs to change. My midsection is the worst -- love handles, and a bit of a 'gut'. I did take measurements -- just of my waist, hips and biggest part of my overall stomach (mainly because this is the only area I'm truly concerned about). I also took front and side pictures in my favorite bikini. I plan on redoing my measurements and pictures every 30 days. I am actually trying out a low-cal muscle milk today after my workout to see how I like it. I starting using that loseit.com website and realized that I am really low on my daily protein -- which he really emphasizes with P90X. What do you do!? I am low on my calorie count every day and don't really know the best way to add to it in a positive way. I'm sort of 'nutrition retarded'...so any suggestions would be more than welcomed! What kind of diet are you on?

Lol that's exactly what I weigh I'm just 2 inches taller so basically the same. And yes my midsection is the worst too! I feel like no matter how skinny I am that part won't completely go away and it's the one thing I really wish would.

That's a good idea to take pictures in your favorite bikini! I think I will do the same with the measurments, I thought about doing them once a week but I don't want to obsess over the numbers and I know if I wait 30 days then my body is way more likely to have made changes.

I'm not really on a specific diet, but I am a vegetarian so the low protein will problably be a problem here too. I know adding any lean protein would be good for you, it adds plenty of calories and will keep you feeling full longer without adding unwanted fat or sugar or empty calories. (lol i'm so not an expert as you can tell but this is just random stuff I've learned through the years) I'm going to try to up my protein intake by eating more beans and peas. An average dinner at my house: I make chicken or steak or some kind of meat for my FI and I make steamed veggies and some type of starch (i.e. rice, potatoes, pasta) But I think i'm going to start making more beans and peas with the veggies too. I like black beans, garbanzo beans (really high lean protein content), lentils, green peas. Spinach is also packed with protein, and I like salad a lot so i'm going to try to eat more of that even tho I feel like I eat it a decent amout as it is.

I know eggs, milk, chicken, and fish are all excellent sources of protein you could try to incorporate more of those things more. Just adding a glass or two of milk would up your calories 100-300 a day.

As for supplements, my FI takes a ton of them and swears by all his pills and powders and crap. I'ver never taken any but I just asked some ladies on another thread what they use because I might start taking a whey protein supplement after I work out. The two suggestions I got: Dymatize Elite isolate whey protein and Mysofusion. They both got good reviews and are pretty moderatly priced. A lot of the protein supplements out there have a toooooon of calories and sugar in them (for guys that are trying to gain weight) but these two are fat and sugar free so that's a plus.
