Hey ladies! I too am on a budget and I am already feeling a little discouraged and I am more than a year away.

My dilemma is this: My first deposit was due January 23 and we got a great response from that (moreso than expected). Thing is, our wedding package allows for 20 people to eat at the reception dinner and we are already at 25 paid first deposits! Each additional person is $45, So far that is only $225 and we can eat that (yikes) but I am scared that people will try to come last minute, especially since we have so much time left!

I am sure you see where I am going with this. How will I "gracefully" turn people awayhuh.gif I do not want to be tacky, but I am getting stressed out about this BIG time. We REALLY do not have money in the budget to pay for anyone else.

How do I handle thishuh.gif?!!!!

Thanks ladies sad.gif

welcome and congrats! we are on a budget as well... and actually were supposed to get married this april but due to financial reasons, we have to wait. So now we are looking into the end of this year or beginning of next year. I agree that you may have less guests then if you had a wedding at home, but a lot of people will use your wedding week as their family vacation! good luck with your planning! also, be careful because some resorts have "free weddings" that aren't really "free."

Ok so I need to clarify my previous post. I am not having an issue with the 5 people over, its what if some person comes along in October of this year saying they want to come, can I turn them away? We are on target with the budget right now, but honestly could not afford any more people coming...

Welcome and Congrats!! One thing I love about DW's is that they can be as expensive and as budget friendly as you would like. Some resorts have packages that allow you to have beautiful ceremonies and receptions without breaking the bank.

I would suggest coming up with a budget with different categories : ceremony/reception, rings, travel/hotel, dress/attire, invites/std etc and figuring out how much you would like to spend in each area. Think about what you think is important. For example, we decided to splurge on a great photographer but we may not have floral centerpieces. In the beginning we created a budget and ( so far) we've been good with not going too crazy. I hope this doesn't change as time gets closer. I've been holding off buying little items that may add up( decor, favors, oot stuff) until we get a better sense of how many ppl will attend. We've had quite a few say they would like to come but only time will tell.
