My wedding is April 16th and I am planning on doing everything outside.  We are having an evening wedding though so I am hoping it will be dark by the time the cocktail hour reception rolls around.  I didn't want to do anything in a ballroom either.  To me it defeats the purpose of going to Mexico and I don't want to decorate it.  If it's in the 80s I don't think it would be too hot in the afternoon.  I also live where it stays above 95 for most of the summer so the 80s sound perfect!

I'm a little worried about my in-laws and the fact that my husband is very anti hot-heat.

Our WC suggested maybe having the cocktail party in a ballroom that has AC.

I don't want to decorate a ballroom and was really counting on an outdoor party.  However..  I don't want it to be ruined b/c everyone is too hot to enjoy the mariachi and the food, etc.

Thoughts?  Anyone who has been there at that time of year and know what to expect?  Anyone seen a review from that time of year.. i'm still looking..

TIA!

No, my coordinator didn't mention anything about an extra cost - she just asked me for colours and said they'd make it into a centrepiece.  I have seen other posts where brides have used the comp bouquet to make a bridesmaid bouquet, or to make boutonniers and corsages and they didn't mention an extra cost either.

Thanks for the info.  I tried to explain to the miami wedding contact that I know exactly what I want and would like to reserve my specific locations for ceremony and private events.  She explained I could do this 3 months prior.  I persisted that I would rather not wait until that close to the date and have my preferred locations end up being unavailable.  She responded with, "you will not be assigned an onsite WC until 3 months prior, and they are the only ones capable of booking specific locations and private functions".  I have a ton of time, and am not really worried.  However, since we know exactly what we are looking for, I would rather lock in the locations now, and can move on to other planning.  If I wait until 90 days, and the locations are unavailable, I will be furious I was forced to wait to book?

For what its worth, I waited quite a while to book locations (I was trying to be laid back about everything - one of my reasons for a DW), and ended up with the locations I wanted to.  No guarantees, obviously.  I would think if you push the Miami folks hard enough, they will eventually give in??

Continue to push for your onsite coordinator's contact info or specifically request to be assigned to one you read good reviews about.  I was told the same thing, just to wait until 90 days prior.  All of my top 3 locations were booked when I finally got through to my coordinator 7 months prior to my date.  Especially if you are getting married during a busy month, I would get your request in as early as possible.
