anyone know if an alternative to maracas?

Question for all jamaican brides......

 

I think the maraca idea is super cute for weddings in mexico, but I don't feel it goes with a jamaican theme. Does anyone have any alternative ideas for a Jamaica wedding instead of the maracas, that would not be too costly?

What about a bell? My sister had little silver bells that everyone rang for them to kiss instead of the cup thing. Not sure if that was the point for the maracas but it sounded beautiful when everyone was ringing them.

What about a kazoo!? Ok, it might not be Jamaican (or Hawaiian...) but it would be hillarious!

I believe in Jamaica the use gourd Type rattles called Shakras. They are very similar to maracas.

What about something Rastafarian? Ya mon! Hemp products, shea butter, berets in rasta colors. Does it need to make noise? There is a drum called a Toca, maybe use could find mini versions?
