All things candy buffet

Any BDW'ers out there have a candy buffet at your AHR? We are going to do one at ours this summer at my parents' house. Any tips? I've found a few websites that do bulk candy Candywearhouse.com - candywarehouse Resources and Information. and ilovecandy.com and have to find the scoops and glass jars and some bags to use.

I've never thought about a candy bar, but that sounds DELICIOUS!

I really wanted to do a candy bar at my wedding but the candy would just melt! lol

 

I'm doing one at my AHR. I've picked the same website as you for the candy.

 

For the bags and scoops I've checked out Party supplies, crafts, party decorations, toys: Oriental Trading Can't go wrong with the prices there.

 

Are you staying with candy that is the same colors as your wedding? I think I want to keep a color scheme. What do you think?

I am trying to, but my colors are navy blue and pale pink. So in trying to avoid it looking baby-shower like, most of the blue-r candies are blue raspberry flavors, which are not my favorite. I'm going to do the blue m&ms (and I'm going to call the store in Times Square to see if they will give me a bride / bulk discount), blue gummi sharks, and some other candies to round out the spread.

I'm doing a candy buffet at my AHR too! I've been to 2 weddings where they did this and it was a huge hit! I'm doing a mix of candy. I got quite a bit after valentines day on clearance and I'm going to do the same after Easter. The key is to get items that don't look like the holidays, lol! For the rest of the candy I'll try to get more in my colors which are purple/green/chocolate brown. I'm lucky enough to have someone I am borrowing all the dishes from and to incorporate my colors I have organza to put under all the jars. Also, having the jars at different display heights always looks nice too.

What a great idea! We're not doing the candy bar, but we're having an everything chocolate fondue "bar" if you will. Their will be a milk chocolate fondue, white choclate fondue, and my FSIL is making this wonderful heath church chocolate fondue; and for dippings we'll having everything from pretzels to strawberries.

All of you ladies are making me hungry!! other than getting different sized jars / glasses, I also thought about buying a box of some kind that's blue and giving some of the jars height. This is kind of my inspiration from Amy Atlas: Amy Atlas Events , click eye candy and then picture #93 - I tried looking for some plain blue boxes in a few places this weekend, at least I have plenty of time to look.

bridej9, great tip about the after-easter candy!! I'm hopeful that it won't all be pastel colored.

hello!

I was thinking of having candy bar as well for our reception when we get back home! I thought this would be very creative instead of having more traditional deserts or another mini wedding cake. For my actual wedding i am having lots of paper lanterns. We are going to string them all up in the garden for our AHR and thought about buying little chinese take out boxes that people could fill with candy:) sort of keeps along a similar theme:)

We did a candy buffet at our almost married reception and we are doing one at our ahr. For the almost married I color coordinated all the candy and it was not cheap. We got out candy from lots of different places, mymms.com, candywarehouse.com, gumballs.com, bj's and a few other websites. It cost me over 600 dollars in candy! This time we decided not to color coordinate and bought all our candy at costco for about 150 dollars! It def was a huge hit...people loved it! Do a search there are some other threads about candy buffets that are helpful.

Our colors were navy blue and bright pink and I was able to find a ton of candy but it was not cheap. I also did hershey kisses and peppermint patties silver wrappers and it tied everything together! Looked awesome. We also had bright pink gumballs, pink sour watermelons, blue and pink m&ms, blue rock candy, jordan almonds, blue and pink salt watwr taffy and I think that's it
