reception on beach or ...?

Recommended Posts

We were planning on having our evening reception on the beach, however, after reading through some of the reviews, we are having second thoughts. The ceremony is on the beach. Now we are wondering if a reception on the beach is the best idea ... wind, sand, food, etc ... maybe not the best combination.

Our wedding is at the Gran Caribe Real. There is a nice outside beachfront location we could use for the reception instead of the beach itself.

Any thoughts or suggestions? If it is a nice calm evening, I think the beach would be nice for the reception. But if it is windy, I am starting to think guests might want an escape from the sand for a while.

I welcome your thoughts on which venue would be the best option. Thank you!!

I guess my question might be best stated as: for those of you who did choose a beach front location for the reception, would you do it again or would you choose an off-beach location?

We had both our ceremony and reception on a (private) beach. No regrets here. Getting married outdoors on the sand was one of the major reasons a DW appealed to me. Luckily the weather was perfect (not too hot or too cool) and there was minimal wind.

Our location also had porches with plush furniture where people could lounge, so that was a bonus.

How did your guests feel about having the reception on the beach? I'm debating whether or not to have the reception on the beach, because I'm worried that my guests might not like the idea of being barefoot or having sand between their feet during dinner and dancing? Did your guests take to it well? I'm having the actual ceremony in the garden which is beachfront, but after seeing pics online of the reception on the beach...it was beautiful and it would mean the party could go on all night long. If we had the reception on the terrace, it would mean we would have to turn down the music at 11...and all my guests LOVE to dance and party all night long. Having our wedding at the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita in Maya Riviera. Any thoughts??
