I have 8 weeks on Monday until my wedding day and am still wanting to drop at least 5 k.g so about 11 pounds i try and go to the gym twice a week and do the treadmill once a week at home but the weight is not shifting as quickly as i would like! Have cut out all carbs at night but it is the picking that i am bad at as I am a nanny to 3 children and am constantly around food!

OK kiwi if you only have 8 weeks I would step up the process........i believe you are going to have to start exercising atleast 5 times a week.......if you dont have time you can do it at home too.  there are a few girls on here that do Julian Michael's 30 day Shred, which only takes 20 min. of your time daily........and you can do that!!!  You can get that if you have comcast cable on demand. or buy it at Target or Walmart for 9 bucks.......Some of the other girls do other DVD's too, i am sure they will let you know what they are...

And you must stop PICKING............you can pick,........but substitute with healthy food, since you are a nanny its tough BUT surround yourself with yogurt and almonds, celery, fruits, cheerios and nibble on those things............ if the kids are eating french fries, pull out those cheerios and eat those instead.......or carrots, i hate to say carrots cuz not too many ppl like to snack on carrots.....

I luv my Sugar Free Jello chocolate Pudding, its only 60 calories and FAT Free i believe and doesnt taste like it at all.......

Good luck

Keep us updated!!

Is it hurting in the front or inside?  I have/had major knee issues, including surgeries, and my trainers always sent me to the elliptical or swimming if I was having pain (swimming is the best). I'm not a doctor, but have a lot of experience with pain while training....my two cents....

I would stop the running and treadmill and start icing/taking IBprofen after workouts.  You have to give yourself a month or so to heal, if it's something minor.  It's good to push through muscle pain, but not joint.  STOP if you are hurting while exercising.  You may have to just rest for a while.  Oh, and also, I've found the best shoes for my knee problems are Saucony or Mizuno (the higher priced ones).

Hope you feel better!

Hi Nemmerz! Keep up the good work! My suggestion from reading this is CUT OUT the cereal! I know this is hard for people to get used to (I used to think it was impossible because I ate cereal everyday...often for a snack) but cereal is basically sugar...even Multigrain Cheerios, even non-frosted cereals...if it's a processed grain, the body interprets it as sugar. If you can't live without it, keep it to breakfast only and make it oatmeal (which you already eat so good job!) or All Bran...that's it! For a snack, it's really not a great choice as your body just stores it as fat.

In terms of "fat burning foods", think protein - and not dairy, but REAL protein like meat or eggs or meat alternatives. The more protein, the more muscles your develop (and even on women this is necessary to some degree...think toned, not bodybuilding), which are what burns fat.

Also, in terms of your knee, like others said, maybe skip the running for a few days and stick to the elliptical. If you're prone to knee problems, you should be icing your knee after every workout, even on days it doesn't hurt...this is often a good preventative measure!

You're doin' great, keep it up! cheesy.gif

OK, for FAT LOSS it tells me about 1550 cal per day

Extreme LOSS is approx 1100 cal per day.

I average between those two amounts daily, do i am good.......

Like I said i ordered the BodyBugg from 24/7 Fitness and it comes on Wed. cant wait to see how many calories i THINK i burn and how many I actually Burn.

Can you give any advice on fat burning foods..........

I am meds sensitive so I dont take anything to boost my metabolism, I am 40 yrs old.....well will be on April 3rd .......so i guess i should hold onto 39 for as long as I can........LOL

So many of my friends take crazy stuff like ADIPEX, a diet drug....and other crazy diet drugs, i cant do it cuz my anxiety will go thru the roof...

Maybe my choice of foods that accumulate to those calories are wrong choices.........Hmmmm??

I have oatmeal in morning with a tbs of honey and fruit and a hard boiled egg, white only........or some multigrain cheerios with fruit and milk.

Lunch is usually a chix salad with some cukes and red peppers and a Subway Turkey on Wheat with Veggies

Dinner is well you never know.........i have twin boys who are 15 years old and can EAT and EAT and EAT....and SKINNYYYYYY.,,,, so i will usally make them something and i luv

Mahi fish and Ahi Tuna and lots of veggies....CHICKEN a fav of course!!

I like having cereal for a snack of sugar free pudding.......

Also after the gym I drink a 30Gprotein drink that is only 1g of sugar and 1g of fat to help restore my muscle after workouts OH and 160 calories.

Anyone else drink anything after their workouts??

I'm a registered dietitian, and just popped in to read a bit through these. I wanted to recommend a great tool for those of you unsure of how many calories you should be eating per day... http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

That calculator will help you to determine how many calories your body needs, and how many to take in if you want to lose weight. Also, I want to second the suggestion for Weight Watchers. Crazy as it may seem given that I'm a dietitian, but we actually always send people to Weight Watchers! The results that WW gets can't be denied. It's that combination of accountability and support that the group offers by meeting in person weekly, and the point system is much easier to track than calories for most people.

Also, don't worry so much about the numbers on the scale as you do about your measurements, if you have a lower body weight (like the woman who is 135). Your body is just converting your fat into muscle, which actually weighs more. If you really want to see the numbers coming off though, do interval workouts or try spinning. Just running at a consistent pace for 30 minutes won't burn as much as rotating between jogs, sprints, walks, etc.

Keep up the good work all of you!! I loved seeing the results, you guys are awesome:)

I know asparagus is a fat burning food. Not sure of anything else.

I agree with Nemmerz...2-3 times of working out a week is ok for maintenance but not for shedding fat or building muscle. You need to be working out 5 days a week :)

Hi ladies, this is my first post to this thread. I have been spending my time with the April brides. MY wedding is in exactly 2 months from today! My goal is to lose 10lbs and I only have 8 wks to do it in..Ugh! I am on day 11 of consistant workouts and I also incorporate cardio with weights... My hardest part is the diet. I am a sugar fanatic and am having a hard time cutting it out, which is probably why Im not seeing results yet. I do understand that it takes a while to see the lbs go down on the scale when you start doing strengh training so Im trying to be patient. I have been at 125 before and know that is where i look my best. I am doing ok in adding the healthy foods throughout the day but cant seem to completely cut out the added sugar snacks :( I guess I just need to focus on cutting out a little at a time... Im glad we have this support group to help us get through it and Im really appreciating all the ideas on whats working and whats not! Thank you girls,I couldnt do this without ya!!! Lets keep it up!!! :)

You can do it! But I hate to break it you (although, I think you already know this) you really have to cut the sugar otherwise it's gonna be a hard go of it. Any trainer/nutritionist will tell you it's 80% diet, 20% exercise and no matter how hard you try, it's impossible to "out train" a bad diet. Sugar's kinda like an addiction...until you really eliminate it, your body will crave it.

What if you set aside just ONE day of each week as a cheat day? That day, you can eat a whole tub of ice cream with chocolate syrup or whatever you want as long as you were good the rest of the week. That way, you treat yourself but my guess is that you won't want the whole tub anyway because you'll so proud of yourself from the rest of the week...

I agree, you definitely have to cut out the sugar!! Otherwise, you're working your butt off for nothing. Try sugar free jello or sugar free pudding. It taste great and satifies the sugar crave!! Best of all, it doesn't taste like it's sugar free. I've also bought sugar free lifesavers which taste GREAT!! You wouldn't know the difference if you had it. Determination and effort will get you there. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
