Odd item to register for???

Recommended Posts

It sounds like a good idea but I will caution you that some will look at it side ways! I had a friend who registered for bedroom furniture a few years ago and I couldn't understand for the life of me why someone would do that. Until another, much closer friend got married and she told me that she would get a % off of the items still left on her registry after her wedding date. It was like an ah-ha moment.

But how would they be able to contribute cash to it? In the form of gift cards? If so, then why not just register for gift cards from the particular store you want to buy the furniture at? That way, the person knows that their gift is going to be used in one way or another.

I think in this day and age, with people living together before marriage, having kids etc. people need to move with the times and realize that newlyweds need more than just pots and pans and dish towels as wedding gifts! LOL.

Your idea of registering for a couch is just fine...perhaps people can give you gift cards to put toward it or a big group of people can go in on it.
