Oh, and upstate NY is like buffalo & albany. I used to think everyone from New York was from a big city. I think people from upstate NY are quick to say that because its so different from NYC, but when a lot of us here New York we think of NYC.

as an update ... someone posted something really nice after that girl - saying she appreciated me sharing and didn't know what was "up her butt" with the previous post. yay - there ARE nice people out there! she was super sweet.

Geesh Ann! I had heard that some other wedding forums are not as welcoming as BDW, but that is so rude!

I also search the Knot for information and just recently discovered the Bios from some posts on here that have been very helpful, but I have not read the forums.

Who would think that being helpful would make you feel that way...

The DW board is really nice. That's where I posted a lot when planning (thought there's a lot of new people now). However, I never ventured out to the other boards because, I'm sorry, most of the girls there are bitches! I posted once or twice on my local knot board... holy crap, I barely said hi and I got snotty remarks about how I was selfish for having a DW, how my questions were stupid (uh, how is asking a question about where to get a dress altered stupid?!).

 

Seriously, if you aren't mature enough to act like an adult on a wedding message board, how the hell are you going to make it through marriage. Good luck to those future husbands!!

I had that same luck on my local board there. I think the difference bw here and there is that they hide behind the anonymous factor of an online forum. It is easier to be rude to people in an online setting because you never actually have to see or know them. I think they hide behind that and allow themselves to be more rude than they would be face to face. Here, we actually make efforts to meet each other, get to know each other personally, etc.

See what you get for cheating on us Ann? No, seriously, just kidding. I think that was so nice of you to take the time to try to share something and they should be ashamed for being so hostile! I do not understand why some forums are so evil. Certainly not everyone at TK is like that, but there definitely are a large number...it's too bad because a wedding should be a time for happiness and sharing- instead they make it a competition.

 

By the way, what contest is Leigh doing? I'm sure it's in another thread here somewhere...I'll try to find it. I'm so far behind on this forum it's not even funny. You all need to quit being so darn friendly and let a girl catch up to these posts!

Ann, I've always been afraid to post on the knot. There are quite a few brides who are very unfriendly. I was just searching for pics of starfish place cards (set up) and there was a post from some PITA (animal rights) type post! I mean come on!

 

Then they are so territorial. "If you post my pic or my idea of something i did or will do, make sure to give me credit" Ladies if you want to use ANY ideas that I have please go ahead and there is no need to say - from BDW-er Amyh.

 

We are here to share and gather info for our weddings. I love how friendly everyone is here and have no idea how I would get through this wedding with out you.
