Scared my son.....

I have to agree with much that has already been said. Kids can be very entertaining and they do some crazy stuff. Although when they do these things they are pretty cute and just make everyone laugh. I mean he's 3, my nephew is 3 and does silly stuff all the time but it's adorable because he's 3. I don't think you would really want your own son to not be involved in your wedding but if it's not important then maybe having someone watch him during the ceremony would be best.

My FI's neice is 23 months and one of our flower girls...I would not be surprised if she totally punks out when she see's everyone and doens't make it down the aisle..which is fine with me. The only thing is I won't get to see it till the video!!!

Just think how funny it will be to play that video clip at his wedding somedaywink.gif

One thing you could try - since he is three and does not get the whole "if you are good you get something later"....I saw at one wedding they bought a really nice doll the flower girl wanted and tied it to the front chair so she would go down the aisle to get it.....you could do something similar and maybe have a bucket with some shovels and tell him his job is to walk you down the aisle and build you guys a sand castle?

Whatever happens I am sure he will be adorable and it will be a funny moment in your wedding. It is just one more memory:) Good luck!

I also wonder about how your son could embarass you? I think I understand the point you are trying to make but I think you are overracting. Its not like people are going to look at you like "why can't she make her child behave". Kids say and do spontaneous things all the time, it what makes them great, it is what makes us stuck-up too serious grown-ups laugh. If your son gets silly during the ceremony I think it will just be something funny to look back on. And hopefully it will be caught on video so you can show it to him when he is a teenager!

I agree with everyone here! I used to not like the idea of kids being at our wedding, but we'll have a couple 5 year olds there, who are both big personalities, and if they do something "embarassing" i'll only look forward to any photos or video of them. Unless you're a picky bride about things being perfect, I don't think your son can be embarassing -- as long as kids don't throw crying tantrums during any ceremony, then i think it's fine. Find a designated person to watch him or hold his hand during the vows (have that person hand him the lollipop at that time as distraction). Other than that, kids are kids.

These are some great stories! I know you want them to be on their best behavior but I must admit some of the great memories from weddings I've been to is where the kids do something funny! At my brother's wedding he was worried my niece wouldn't walk down the aisle because she was too scared at the rehersal so naturally being the aunt I bribed her and she walked down the aisle perfectly and when she stood next to me she looked up and asked how she did... It was too precious and she received her gift as soon as we walked out!
