I am glad I started this post. And it has relieved some of the stress off you guys. I know it has me. I really want to keep it simple mostly because of the budget and also I do not have enough time to do anything. I have a three year old and I swear when I do anything wedding related he knows and is a little monster. I can not get anything done. lol

I am also very glad someone started this thread! This is my 2nd marriage and my Fiance's first, and we did not want to spend money on a wedding...that is why we decided on a destination wedding. We have quite a few friends and family coming on the trip, and I do not want the ceremony to look 'cheap' - I am encouraged by seeing photos of simple/free weddings, and I know that ours will be just as elegant. I am excited for the brides who are putting on a large party and big wedding, I think it would be exciting to plan, but for us, that is just not where we are coming from, and I am thankful that we are able to just share the special day with our family and friends.

Thank you so much for this post! I originally wanted a very very simple wedding. It is so easy to get caught up in this forum and all the different options. I also took a step back and realized the real reason why we are going to Mexico. . . and its not all the amenities!

I think one of the major bonuses of DWs is that you CAN do the bare minimum for decor. A stunning setting really doesn't need much, if any, embellishment.

Here is a picture of my ceremony - as you can see, we had no chair sashes, no arch, no aisle runner, no sprinkling of rose petals down the aisle, NADA. Yet I still think it looks elegant. And we were happy to use that money we saved on decor to pamper our guests with a great food and alcohol selection.

We did not bring ANY decor items with us. Our florist provided very inexpensive flowers and candles for the reception tables, and we did splurge on the bridal/bridesmaid bouquets (which ended up as extra table decor once the reception started). My MIL did bring some white decorative pumpkins for our tables and around the venue, and they were adorable, but truthfully, very few guests noticed them. I really don't think most guests remember the little details at any wedding. They remember the food, music, and how much fun they had.

I was also wanting a very pretty, but simple wedding. This forum really makes me want more though! I am constantly having to step back, evaluate my budget and priorities, and go from there. I have decided against any extra decorations, except for my own aisle runner. I also am doing the OOT bags, but that is it.

I think I would probably do more on decorating if I had the ability. I am not creative at all. I'd rather be just as surprised and in awe about my decorations as my guests on my wedding day. The idea of having to decide what goes where, what colors go with what, all that stresses me out. I am having a hard enough time picking a bouquet! I know I like pink roses...I have no idea what should go in there with them though! Reading on this forum gives me all sorts of super cute ideas. But when I sit back and think about me having to do it myself I get all anxious and stressed out. So for me, just better to let the resort do it and be surprised!
