I'm pretty sure the free wedding is only the civil wedding. I don't know which one you plan on doing. Isn't it adults only too? Don't know if thats a problem.

All the "extras" at Moon Palace are so much more expensive that at Iberostar. rant.gif

Iberostar doesn't require a deposit, but they do get a copy of your credit card in case of cancellation. Nothing is charged to the c.c., but to your room.

Rates for 2008 are not out yet at all. I don't know how the ppl getting married there at the beginning of the year are doing it..what if the prices skyrocket?

I know what you're going though Martha! Just try to be patient and remember part of the reason you're doing a DW is to have LESS STRESS!! :)

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked us "Well, how much s the trip?" before the prices came out, we would be rich. We just decided on Dreams Tulum and am starting to figure out when we will be booking out trip for May 2008. Everything will work out, try not to stress!!

Dreams is a great resort and has a great wedding package if you're still looking at other options.

Amy,

I think Dreams is more expensive than the resort we want. We thought about it...I think their "extras" really add up also and since we are giving our siblings a total of $3,000 to go on top of all the other stuff we are doing (we are paying for all this by ourselves), we really need to stick to our budget.

Isn't the only option at Dreams Tulum to get married ON the beach? I don't wanna do that...I want a gazebo that's not on the beach. Seems silly, since we are getting married on the Riviera Maya, but that's what I want. lol

So, you dont have any pricing yet?

Hi Martha,

Dreams has 3 options for your ceremony location, a chapel, a gazebo, and the beach. For a week long trip through Apple Vacations including lodging, air from Detroit, transfers, ect., the lowest end room was $1386 per person.

They have a free wedding package if you book 5 or more rooms or a Honeymoon Suite category or higher, for a minimum 7-night stay. It includes Services of the Judge or Minister, wedding organization and personalization of our wedding coordinator, preparation and ironing of the wedding dress and groom's tuxedo/suit, complimentary room for the groom the night before the wedding (based on availability), personal dressing assistant, use of the wedding gazebo located in a romantic setting, bride’s bouquet, boutonniere for the groom, wedding cake for up to 10 people and one bottle of sparkling wine, special turn down service at night, 15% discount on all spa treatments (product purchases not included), honeymoon package, and late checkout for bride and groom (based on availability).

They also have 2 other packages that include more features for an added cost.

Moon Palace allows children. Plus, although their extras are more, their original package is quite good. Do you really need extras? And would you save more in the stay of your trip that it would even out? Weigh your options.

Also, I'm not even engaged, but if it happens some what soon I would get married in April of 08, so being in July, you have PLENTY of time. Don't fret. One more month shouldn't make that big of a difference.

Thanks for all that info, Amy! My TA emailed me last night and suggested Azul Beach...Dreams Tulum is less expensive, thats for sure...I just need to look at their wedding packages.

As far as the "extras"...I live in South Texas and it would be so hard for me (mentally) to pay $500 for mariachis for 45 min. when I can get them for $300-350 an hour here....Seems silly, but I just know that that is a huge price to pay. And $150 for a bride's bouqet? Based on their pictures on their website, I wouldn't pay $150 for them.

Weird, we did a site visit there in June as well... We were there the 9-13th.

Do you mean for wedding packages or resort rates? Because, seriously, rates are not out yet...they should be out tomorrow or Wed. The resort doesn't even have them on their website yet.

Maybe they gave you this year's rates? Or an estimate of next year's?
